Ok, I recently had my fule pump assembly go out. I took it to the dealer before I took it to my regular machanic. It took them three times to find the problem after telling me each time they checked the fuel pump. It was a burn in the wire harness connection and the actual fule pump connection. I then took it to my machanic to cut the bad end of the wire harness and replace the fuel pump, but now when I'm on the highway and I punch the gas down. The RPM's go up to 4,000 RPM's and stays there and the car barly picks up. On top of that I'm running on low gas milage now (30 to 25). So, I'm thinking three things. The dealer could have reset my governor, cause it never use to do this before. My machanic could have messed up connecting the fuel line (already talked to him, I've known him for several years, he said it could be my cat. or fuel filter), or it could be because of the spark plug I changed out when I was having the problem with the fuel pump (I had bosh four plugs and changed them to champions, the dealer said I should do this to see if it was the problem). I really need help on this. Thanks. Anthony.

I think I'm having the same problem with my auto right now. slow pick up when trying to get on the highway. Seemed like it started happening within a very short period of time from when it was noticable to bad. I need to have the fuel filter replaced and from driving I'm thinking it's the best bet right now.

What year and how many miles? If it's an XD, then the fuel filter is part of the pump and most likely got changed with the pump. Definatley sounds like a cat converter to me. Check fuel pressure, and if that's ok, I'd bet it was the cat. You might still be under the federal emissions warranty, so it could get taken care of for free...

lol I thought it was the cat too. Forgot to put in there that I already had it checked. Said it's fine. No I got to look at the fuel pressure.

...actually, he just looked at it from the outside and said it wasn't lossing color and it didn't looked cloged. It's an 01 and I know it doesn't have warrenty. I'm taking it to my machanic tomorrow to look at it.
