View Full Version : for those with tinted windows
so do any of you cruise with the windows like 1/2 or 1/4 of the way down ever? do yall get those nasty lines on the tinting after leaving the window down for a while?
i know they come off when i clean my windows with invisible glass (amonia free), but i was wondering if there was a quick way to wipe those off, or if anyone know of some tint safe wipes that come in a can or something like that for just a quick n dirty wipe. Its just when that sun comes out i like the windows half way down and i hate lookin over and having this thick line on the window where it was down. so ugly..
any idears?

Wipes for LCD monitors are amonia free. Example: http://www.amazon.com/FALCON-EXPONENT-DSCT-Computer-Monitor/dp/B00009ESKH

I asked the guy who did my tints and he said that Armor All wipes were cool.

They may be safe for tint (dunno), but the armorall glass wipes may have been the worst product I've ever used on anything... ever. Terrible results.

Yeah, I don't like armor-all either. Smudges galore.

I got some in a package and I wasn't too impressed - I thought I wasn't wiping properly but after a few tries it was the same result.
ive only used armor all on my dash.. and i hated it.. never bought the window stuff
might have to try out lcd wipes, as long as they are amonia free. i mean like i said im not cleaning the whole window, just lookin for something ti eliminate those damn lines. as for the windows themselves i clean them up each time they start to haze or look like they need it (every 3-4 weeks ill go around and wipe it all down good inside and out). as far as doing that i like the invisible glass i bought alot, i used it on the windshield like a month ago and my windshield is still crystal clear.. thats a record for me, i usually clean it every month or less cause it gets a haze on it.

I use an industrial window cleaner and simple paper towel. But if you are getting a lot of marks and all on your windows you may want to have your tints re-done. Mine never did that once and nor have I heard of it.

me either, you can just see a slightly faded spot at the top of the tint from where the windows roll up into the seal

I just keep an extra can of aerosol foam window cleaner and soft cloths in the car and give them a quick cleaning whenever it's needed. Or when I feel like it.
An occasional cleaning of the seals helps prevent the marks, but they always eventually return from moisture and/or dirt.

Off on a tangent, but kind of related:
Although I'm not sure it's the same formulation, Sprayway Glass Cleaner is very similar to Stoner's Invisible Glass. My tint installer uses it and recommended as tint safe, as it contains no ammonia (which makes dyed tints fade to blue).
I've used both Invisible Glass and Sprayway, and can tell no difference, except in price. I typically pay $3.99 for Invisible Glass at Pep Boys or other auto parts stores, but Sprayway costs only $1.83 in the household cleaner section of Wal-Mart.
The Original, and just as effective but much cheaper Imposter:

I also have tried the armoral glass wipes and agree that they do not work. They are great for cleaning the inside plastic wood trim though . I use Claire aerosol foam glass cleaner that I can get at work, It does an amazing job. I am not sure if any of u guys use the Mr Clean auto dry system b/c that works well and I rarely have to clean the outside of my windows.

the autodry "system" strips the wax from your car allowing the water to spread and evaporate/run off rather than bead and collect...i usually apply a good thick coat of wax once/twice a month to my windows

Well most of the time the water does bead. After washing the whole car I go back on the parts that haven't dried. I basically like it b/c if I use the water w/out the filter it leaves water spots.

Kinda looks like a workbench, but something's missing...
I KNOW! Mine is similar... at least I THINK it is...
It would be if I moved the piles of junk off it! :D
Doode. That's about the CLEANEST bench I've seen. You MAY have an OC disorder... ;)
Please tell me there's a huge pile of crap just out of view that you moved for the pic...
Threadjack over.
Carry on!
