How many bottles of ATF do I need to buy to drain and fill my auto trans? Yes, I'll use the proper Hyundai fluid :) There's a drain plug on the trans pan right? It's a 2004 GLS.

yes there is a drain plug. the booklet says the trans says it takes 8 qts from BONE DRY.

But whenever you drain it, it is just coming out of the valve body and reserve pan. it is impossible to completely drain the torque converter. So what you should do is what i did. go to the dealership and buy 5qts. Drain the trans. Put 3 and a half in, start the car up, check it like you are supposed to (warm up, L, 2, 3, D, N and check) and see if it needs more. add if necessary.

The drain/fill on the XD is 5 quarts.

Easy job. The old fluid looked OK, didn't have a smell or anything. I noticed the new stuff they sold me was a semi-synthetic, which was nice to see. The trans shifts a little smoother now, smoother enough to notice the difference anyway.

What exactly did they sell you? I don't remember seeing anything about a semi-syn on my bottle??
It does say Hyundai SP-III on the front, right.
