Hey Guys,

On my 2006 Pathfinder I got a "DTE" Gauge that tells me when my fuel is going to be empty. For example when full the numbers at 498 and it works down from there.

Do you think that it would be somehow possible to install a "DTE" Gauge on an Elantra?

If so, what are your ideas for doing so?

Thanks.

doesn't a trip computer do that for you? (i don't have it... but i saw a trip computer showing that in my mom's sonata)

also i guess you can implement such device with OBD readers although it ain't be that simple as installing tib guages.

Do you have a GT or a GLS? I'm assuming GLS because the GT already has one. What you can do is look at the fuel guage. If it's getting close to empty, it's time to fill up.

That's an amazing technique that I use on a daily basis ricerrx7!

MrMalta, I could be wrong but I believe the scangauge II can give you that kind of information, if not still a nice little thing to have, with all the information it does pump out.

the easy way, get a GT cluster and buttonset (04-06) or the equivalent for the 01-03, or, find an electrical diagram for said vehicle and esentially re-create it for the elantra...or, just deal with the needle moving like every other GLS owner...

yea im sure the wire harness is different between the gls and gt (01-03) but then again maybe it isnt...but that would be a lucky shot

Uhh.. didn't know you can be a ricer with an elantra.

Let's keep it on topic.

They are very different. The GT also has a computer module that does all the calculations missing on the GLS.

Back on topic...

I'm not real familiar with trip computers. I wait till my trip odometer sez "250" or so & start looking for gas.

On the other hand... boaters have FloScan systems that read out, among other things, "GPH," "Fuel Burned/trip" "Fuel Burned/xxx" Whatever ya want. Be interesting to actually see milage vary as your speed does.

I saw somewhere once a device that plugged into the OBD II portand had a display, and one of the displays was DTE. Can't remember where though.

edit:
here is one, just googled "distance to empty obd II"
