I just got through paying about 55 dollars at a local oil change place to get an oil change and use synthetic oil. I am aware that synthetic oil isn't made from dinosaurs and will cost more but for this price I would be happy to just do it myself. My problem is that I don't live in a small town anymore. Back home you just went down to the mechanic and he would dispose of it for you now. I live in a larger city and I don't know what to do with the used oil? Will an auto parts place or oil/lube place dispose of it for me? Anyone know what to do in this instance? Same thing with the old filter I can't go toss it in the river that would be bad.
Thanks for the help

Most autozone like places offer that service, so you can pick up your new oil while you are at there shop.

Cool thank you very much. I will get in touch with AutoZone the only parts place in town open till 10pm. Hey anyone have any issues purchasing OEM oil filters from the service dept of the dealership? Just want to prepare myself before I go buy a couple from them.

No problems, just dont forget to ask for the oil pan bolt washer. Check online and see if there are any over the parts counter coupons.

also check ebay, I've seen some good deals on multiple filters.
Just save some milk jugs and put the oil in there and bring it to autozone as said above.

You should also be able to take the used oil to Discount Auto or Pep Boys too. You can also buy your filters there too.
Oh, and using syn oil you should be able to get a case (case syn is 6 qts) for between $20 and $30 depending on the brand you choose.

AND make sure that when you take the old filter off you also take the old rubber gasket... they have a tendency to get left behind which will result in an oil leak when you put the new filter on :)
