Ok first you are going to need to remove 6 screws holding in the center console, then remove the 2 screws in the shifter now pop the knob off becarfull its spring loaded not very strong tho.
Now pop off the black plastic that surounds the shifters face.
now pop off the shifter plate there are 4 snap on's here http://www.elantraxd.com/photopost/data/500/trans_004.jpg http://www.elantraxd.com/photopost/data/500/trans_001.jpg
Next unplug the power connector take notice were the red and black wires are.
now pop off the chamber that holds the light, there are 2 snap parts holding this on just use a flat head screw driver.
pull the stock light out of its holder.
Now solder in lead wires pos. neg rember to make sure you know witch is pos and neg.
almost done lightly sand the lens of your LED's (frost)
next solder your resistors to the postive Leads on the LED's
Now solder the neg. Leads of the LED's to the neg wire lead you made.
repeat with postive leads(note that would be the resistors)
The next step i used hot glue to secure them and to insulate the leads.http://www.elantraxd.com/photopost/data/500/trans_003.jpg
Thats its put everything back together.(dont forget to make sure eveything works first i use a 6V lantern style battery to test things while im working very usefull.http://www.elantraxd.com/photopost/data/500/trans_002.jpg
Enjoy...

You did more work then you had to there. Simply get a 5-LED wedge matrix light made to fit into a 194 socket, and you're done. Plug and play. I've had that in my trans-indicator area for over a year. Lights very bright and very blue. Can be found at www.autolumination.com

Commercially available coolness very good! I would say being able to say you did it all yourself could be really cool too. I think im going to practice using my soldering iron some more if I still cant get it right then its time to go commercial eitherway I'm getting thes leds in my car wanna do the trans lights the dash, anyone done the lights on the doors? then for the trunk and under the hood oh and the dome light oh yeah

Dome/Trunk Light LEDS = http://autolumination.com/festoon.htm
I think the door bulbs are 194 LEDs, just like the trans indicator = http://autolumination.com/194.htm

I have to look up what the dash-trans-indicator lights are, but I think you're going to have to do some modification for them, don't think there's a plug&play replacement for them.

Thanks as far as using pre-made 194 LED's they cosy alot more i get 50 10mm for under 10$ tho i do agree Flux LED's plus pre fab fit would make things far less difficult and for the inst. cluster there are 4 194 sockets so adding a few more makes big change ill post a DIY on the inst cluster tonight or this weekend.
