Here are some of the different types of glare shields I ahve encorporated into my headlight housing.
This one is still in the works(ignore that a regualr bulb is used):

There is some minor reflection, but it is because my headlight lenses have started to fade from the inside. This causes some light to refract in different directions. Is this what you were wondering about Keyan?

Not at the moment. The demand doesn't seem high enough in order to start producing these in bulk quanties.

just in a few mini quantities :)

From the last cut-off picture there are 2 small spots in which the light refracts everywhere. This is due to the fact that my cutoff shields do not sit flush up against the bulb base, thus allowing some light to seep through underneath thus creating these spots.
just in a few mini quantities :)
Maybe :) Still have to do some more development on these and time is pretty much the only limiting factor on the creation of the shields.
I have decided to offer these shields as an additional cost option with the GT HID group buy kits for only elantraxd members. The price is yet to be determined. The glare shields that will be offered are of simpler design than the ones in the pictures. They will be able to be mounted onto the back of the hexagonal blockoff shield in the center of the headlight. I'll have pictures up within a few days.

I have decided to hold off on the retrofit idea until I get my hands on a set of spare headlights. In the mean time, I found a way to get rid of most of my glare.
Over the Christmas holiday, I was able to reduce the greater portion of the glare that was still present. The conventional upper glare shields actually didn't block the glare that was still present.
I developed a set of upper glare shields which made a HUGE difference.

This shield is aimed at blocking off a small portion of the reflector housing. The cutoff is only really noticable at that spot. The "spot" I am referring to is right above the bulb; there you can see a square like indentation. Most of the glare is from there.
As far as the output on the road, it's great. The light doesn't get reflected off the signs on the side of the road as much.
When I was testing the lower glare shield, it did little to no changes in terms of glare. The lower shields can be used to make the aftermarket HID systems look DOT legal. That's the only real benefit of the lower shields that I have found in my experimentation.
Sorry, but I won't be able to post pictures for a while.
**Side note** Hey txdproject, did you ever figure out a shroud/bezel combo? I am still finding ways to make one.

But this is where I see a problem! Why is the shield on top of the bulb? The top of the bulb is what shines on the top half of the reflector and that is how you get useable output. The point/need of a glare shield is to block the yellowish light emitting from the bottom of the bulb from bouncing out as glare and from bouncing back up into the top of the reflector and making the nice bluish light look yellow.

its for sure a different design... but if it works it works... my design was kind of a bite of the lexus reflector sheild design and it seems to be working great for the people that have bought them from me so far. :)

That's why I liked your design. It get's the job done without the risk of sacraficing useable light output!

yea the shield on the top wouldnt do much. The light is suposed to hit your reflector housing and bounce back onto the road..thats why the shields are on the bottom, so it doesnt bounce into peoples' eyes..
I made my shields out of pop cans..:)
Get some pics in a bit.eating now
