Okay, so i'm driving home from a night out with my wife and we're around 100km from home. Things are good when all of the sudden, the car surges and the CEL comes on. Now, the car is reving around 3000 and the speed tops out at 80Km/h. I pull off and call CAA (not the i'll take you to the nearest dealer Hyundai Roadside Assistance) get the car towed to it's home dealer and they call me the next day to tell me the speed sensor/pulse generator sensor (they wern't sure which one) went on it. The best part of this story is that they milked me for the full $355.00 service charge, my car was 300km over the bumper to bumper coverage!!!!

Huyndai sucks!!

You would think with all the problems i've had with this car (steering vibration), they could have met me half way or something....nope, screw you pale, and give me the money!!!

Time to look for a new (Non Huyndai) vehicle and close the book on my S**t
elantra !!

Well, I'm sorry that you've had problems with your Hyundai, but ANY car company would trat you the same. I've NEVER heard of a manufacturer covering a defect past the warranty coverage at all.

i have...some will perform reduced cost/free repairs as a goodwill gesture, particularly if the item that failed did so during regular operation (ie. the fact that it occurred shortly after the warranty expiration is due to chance and not due to regular wear).

still, $355 isn't all that bad. to put it in perspective, i was forking out nearly $100 for oil changes about 6 months ago.

loopy - just put things into perspective. 1 out of pocket expense for repair is to be expected. of course your whole point was that your warranty just expired maybe a few days before, and i can understand that.

You do know it's not up to the dealership about your warranty right? When they replace anything under warranty they then have to submit the warranty claim to Hyundai Canada, who could in turn say, no that part wasn't under warranty, we aren't reimbursing you for the part or the mechanic's time.

It's a ****ty deal that you're car broke something just after warranty expiration, but that happens with any car from any manufacturer, people always like to blame the car, "I'll never buy one of those again. blah, blah, blah..." machines breakdown and require maintenance, unless you can afford a Rolls Royce, who have lifetime warranty on everything, you're going to run into the same thing with any car out there.
