30,000 Mile Service

Hi everyone. Just passed 30,000 miles on my 2003 Elantra GLS Automatic. I called my local Hyundai dealer and said I was interested in getting the 30,000 mile service performed on my vehicle. He quoted me $585. I was suprised at how expensive that was. I asked him what was included in the 30,000 service. He said the following:

Air Cleaner Filter
Engine Oil and Filter
Rotate and balance all tires
Battery Service
New spark plug installation
Coolant Flush
Trasmission Flush

After I got off the phone with him I pulled out my Hyundai manual and looked at the maintenance schedule. According to it I should have the following items replaced at 30,000:

Air Cleaner Filter
Engine Oil and Filter
Coolant Flush

I replaced the air cleaner filter 10,000 miles ago so I should be good on that item. The tires were rotated and balanced recently too. The engine oil/filter and coolant flush make sense to me but how about all the other things. According to the manual the spark plugs do not have to replaced until 60,000 miles. Battery Service (whatever that is) and Transmission Flush are not even listed. Could anyone please enlighten me on what services should performed on my Elantra at 30,000 miles? Thanks for the help.

actually i am piecing together my 30K service on my 05, but all in all the 30K service is just an air filter(swapped out twice), coolant flush(doin myself), induction cleaning (walmart does it), balance and rotate tires (dad's got a tire balancer)and a couple other mickey mouse things that i cant remember now...or that could be it...

Only thing I had my dealer do @ 30k was a tranny fluid flush. Every auto needs that.
Everything else is fluff or stuff you can do yourself.

I got 30k service yesterday at the dealership. (Obrien AutoPark, Urbana IL)
- Oil Change (Mobil 1 5W30) / Oil Filter
- Transmission Fluid Flush
- Coolant Flush
- some inspections (this is free...)

Total was $445. And this was what they suggested for 30k service.

Since I'm using K/N air filter, they didn't replace air filter.
(I cleaned and reoiled it last month.)
