been digging around and im still a few details short on my (hopefully) upcoming foglights project

firstly, anyones take on scrounging up the fog lights, wiring and relay from a junk/scrap yard.. would i have any success?

secondly, if you can even have a secondly.., when wiring, what wire would be spliced into the sidelamp to make it turn on with them? would just running it to the relay do it? or do i need to run another wire?

thirdly, if i were to run off the sidelamps for the foglights (to the relay of course) could i also run another pair of lights to put behind my grill ( as discussed in the mesh grill/airdam diy )?

sorrry if this has already been covered somewhere else =X

and

thanks in advance!

Going to a junkyard won't really help as there was VERY few GLS's that came with the foglights, only some early 2001 models.

That's an XD2; the fog light attachments are the same on GLSs and GTs. However, you have almost no chance of finding a GT in a junkyard with fog lights intact, imo. You can buy aftermarket lights in a store for about $40 that can be well adapted with some simple L-brackets made of aluminum. See this link (http://www.dfwhyundais.com/diy/FogLights/DIY-FogLights.html) for more info. I need to update that DIY to include the fact that Hella Optilux Fog Lamps, models 1000 through 1150 (http://www.hella.com/produktion/Optilux/WebSite/AuxiliaryLights/FogLamps/FogLamps.jsp) are a good fit.

For relays, you can use several of the relays in an 01-06 Elantra fuse box, even if it doesn't have fog lights. The headlight relays are the same as the fog light relay.

As far as running other lights in the grill or whatever, I would recommend tapping into the right side marker lights. If you look at the schematics, you will see the left side marker lights are on the same fuse as the illumination lights. The right side markers have less load on the circuit.

My DIY uses a switch to control the fog lights. If you need any help wiring to the marker lights because you don't want a switch, let me know.

Ha, you are smart. I didn't even bother looking at that.

Doohicke, you're right on there... I had an issue with my relay grounding internally, and it killed the Dash lights as well. I ended up taking the trigger wire off of the sidemarker and using the city light wire in the headlight assy.
