I've searched and could not find anything that helped me. I just bought an elantra gt 03, and noticed the fog lights don't turn on. With a test light, I've tested the fuses, with the test light, I tested the wire right at the light, and I get no power. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

fog light relay? replace it with one of the hi or lo relays....check to see if the fuses are blown in the car and under the hood

You know the low beam headlights have to be on in order for the foglights to turn on, right?

I did test it with the hi and lo relay. Still didn't work. Yes I do know the low beams need to be on. I'm having trouble finding a maintainance repair book at the auto part stores for an 03 elantra. Do they not make it?

If you have power at the fuse, and no power at the light, then next place I would check is the switch.

From my Fog Light DIY (http://www.dfwhyundais.com/diy/FogLights/DIY-FogLights.html), here is the OEM Wire Schematic with the control path highlighted a description of the relevant conditions required to turn on the lights follows the picture:

http://www.dfwhyundais.com/diy/FogLights/Images/HMASchematicOnLogic.jpg

The current for the coil is turned on whenever 12 volts from the battery gets to one end of the coil and the other end is connected to ground, completing the circuit. This happens when ALL of these are true (follow the green line starting from "HOT AT ALL TIMES"):

1. The Tail Lamp Relay is turned On. This is on whenever the marker lights are on, in Parking, Low Beam or High Beam positions of the headlight switch. (Note that the ETACS can turn off the Tail Lamp Relay by interrupting its coil's path to ground through the "Tail lamp relay auto cut control" circuit. Because of this when the Tail Lamp Relay is turned off, the Fog Lights are also turned off. This is the feature that turns your fog lights off automatically when the car is shut off and the door is opened.)

2. The Front Fog Lamp switch is turned On.

3. The Flash-to-Pass/Low Beam/High Beam switch is set to Low Beam.

4. The Headlight Switch is in the Head position.

5. There is also a connection from the ETACS labeled Fog Lamp Relay that, I believe, simply tells the ETACS that the Fog Lights are turned On. I don't think it affects the state of the lights, though; it just senses it.
If you check all those connections you should be able to figure out why it's not working. Connector EM02, by the way, has some of those pins. It is behind the dash and can be accessed without removing anything else:

If you check those points and find out where it isn't working, I may be able to help you fix it.

Check out webtech. You will find the ETM (electrical troubleshooting manual) for every Hyundai that is available. On there are wiring diagrams that detail the cars electrical system from front bumper to rear bumper.

thanks to everyone who helped me out. But i figured it out it only took me about 6hrs, 3hrs of that was trying to figure out how to change the @#$% bulb. Had to take off half the bumper on the drivers side to figure out it was bad bulbs. Thanx again for everyones quick response.

So it was just a blown bulb? I thought you said you didn't have any power at the light...

The diagnosis was adjusted apparently.

If I remember our foglights correctly, the wire you are referring to is the ground wire, and the bulb fits into a socket which houses the positive side. It's been a while since I've seen an H3 bulb though...
