I'd never heard of Royal Purple oil until I found this site. Seems pretty popular.
Guess what was on the shelf at MCAS Miramar when I went to pick up some oil today? :D
I stuck with my usual Syntec 5w50, tho. No need to change what's workin'.

Yeah royal purple has always been available around here at least back home closer to the coast of tx. Its the best of the best and will cost you that way too if I ever got rich i'd use it.

I believe it was the same price as Castrol Syntec.

Sorry for reviving all these threads tonight but I have a few Q's.
I'm doing my first oil change on my Elantra since I got it, switching from dealer's to RP 5w30. On my previous car everytime I'd do an oil change before draining I would use the 5 minute sludge/build up cleaner stuff. Would it be ok to use that? Also since the weather here in the NW is mainly in the 40s right now 5w30 would be fine correct? The only store carrying RP around my area is NAPA, which they sell for $7.xx a quart....pretty expensive stuff.

Unless you've been going 20k miles between oil changes, there would be no reason to use sludge cleaner.

$7.xx/quart? thats about what my dealer charges me per quart for their oil changes (before i started doing my own, that is) i'm sticking with castrol syntec, at about $4.xx a quart on sale days in the exchanges, if you're lucky enough to find it before its gone.
