I installed D2C bulbs with H7 adapters last week. So far, I am very unsatisfied with the light output. Seems like they are not sitting right. Now, here is my question: Should I have trimmed the base enough so that it enters in the hole in the headlight assembly but still fit my adapter? Because right now, my adapter sits on top of the bulb and is held there by glue. Also, the adapter is not sitting flush in the seat of the headlight. I included pis for you to understand better.

P.S. Sorry Keyan but I used one of your pic's from the HID DIY. Could not find another pic as precise to describe my problem.

i would have used a d2r bulb...it would have saved you lots of time

see the d2c is marketed for both d2r and d2s application however thats really not the best idea. I have a set of d2r bulbs with the h7 adapter if you intrested

Yeah I know that D2R's shoould have been used. That's what I had ordered but got these instead.... took me too long to verify them and could not return the bulbs, so, I am stuck with them (I don't feel like throwing away 100$ bulbs ;) ). I guess I will experiment a little bit!

TXD, I'll get back to you this week for your glare shields.

First, I'll state the obvious. The reflector is not designed to output HID properly, so you won't get "great" performance. But, since H7 optics are very close to HID, you should get decent output if you mount the bulbs properly. The bulb glass should be centered in the reflector like a stock bulb would. Also, the little oval inside the glass should be the same depth in the headlight as the filament would on an H7 bulb. And the return wire on the bulb should be facing straight down, not upright or side ways. And how clear are your headlight lenses? If they are pitted and scratched, your output will suck. You may need to wet sand!

I now have some H7 rebased bulbs in there with TXD's cutoff shields and the difference is phenomenal. I kept the D2C's as back-up in case the other ones die. I'll put some pics up when I get my camera charged. Thanks!

most kits are coming with them because they are suppost to work great for both but i really dont like the concept nor do i think that you can get the output from this "universal " d2c...its just a way for distributors to cut down on cost...pretty bogus if you ask me. And

Also, something I noted about D2C's are that they are longer than rebased bulbs (which is probably why I had such bad output).... cannot say anything about D2R's cause I never got any.... Pics coming later tonight (totally forgot about this thread  )

Gotta go and get my strut bars at the post office now! :)

Ok, just got back and here are a few snaps I took while I was outside... sorry about the bad pics but car is dirty and it is something close to -20 Celsius right now, so, that will have to do.... it's too bad that we can't see the effect of TXD's glare shields on those shots but, trust me, they work!!!

how do you like the cut off inside the headlight and has anyone said anything to you about that cut off?

I love the upside down ''V'' cutoff in the lens... makes it look like a Mercedes.

But no, no one has asked me as of yet about the cutoff..... the car is so dirty that it doesn't show as much, that might be why.....
