So heres my situation...my car is a 01 XD (with alpines intercooled turbo setup) yesterday I went to go somewhere and when I started my car up and I was burning oil like crazy there was blue smoke everywere, I had oil coming out between my turbo and downpipe and I also had oil in my antifreeze. Does this sound like a blown motor/headgaskit or do youll guys think it may be a problem within the turbo itself? Thank for every ones help.

does the turbo have coolant lines running to it? If not it's a head gasket.

how long have you had the Alpine kit installed? This could be a problem with the headspacer, but yes it could be a turbo problem also. I like the idea of a head spacer but I am opting now to install a set of 1.8 pistons and rods.

if you have the coolant cooled turbo...it could be an issue with the turbo itself...being as the oil you s aid was coming from the turbo and the DP...it could also just be leaking oil and mixing with the coolant if its coolant cooled...
if not that then yeah a head gasket...which actually in our cars is not that hard to fix.

oil in your coolant defintely sounds like a BHG to me. if not its the seals ont he turbo. get ahold of a compression tester and test it. if it comes back good its the turbo, then again it could always be a problem with the head. the rings could be bad letting oil leak past the rings into the combustion chamber.
do a compression test then go from there. how many miles on the car?

how does the engine sound? is the car running rough or anything?

So I ripped my motor apart today and its not the head gaskit nor anything internally but I did notice that my oil return line from my turbo was kinked really bad, could oil build pressure inside the trubo and the mix with the coolant and come out? thats what i am thinking, while this probably did blow a seal in the turbo i hope it didnt, well let me know what youll think

The engine itself still runs fine just blue smoke everywere, do youll think i need a new turbo or should i just take the kinked up line and run a new one? the turbo itself looks and feels fine unless its just a seal inside of the turbo

It's pretty common if you mess your return up or if it's to steep to flood the force out the seals on your turbo bearings, now it is leaking into the exhaust section. Check to make sure your oil pressure isnt too high or spiking . After that its time for a rebuild my friend.

Oil in your antifreeze CANNOT happen due to a turbo failure unless said turbo actually has a crack in the coolant passages. The main seals are strictly for the oil flow. The oil chambers are completely separate from the coolant chambers and since the housing is made out of cast iron the only way for them to mix is either a headgasket issue or a cracked turbine housing. Or worse case scenario a cracked head or block.

Wow that blows pretty hard I hope its not that. What's the ET to complete an engine swap if you are just taking an old one out and putting a new one in?

im guessing this HAD to be related to the head gasket now. im glad i never put that spacer in :)

Yea this is got me thinking about taking mine out and putting in a new head gasket and leaving it at the stock compression level!

stock compression level...and what PSI are you guys running? I was contemplating putting in the head spacer or getting a set of 1.8 rods and pistons

Well everything in the motor was fine, no leaks or anything around the headgaskit, I took the decomp. plate out and just put another head gaskit in, it has to be within the turbo because the motor runs fine and its not like theres half oil and half anitfreeze its just like a little dab of oil. We put the head back on this morning and almost have everything else bolted back up in another hour my friend will do a test start to see what happens. I hope it works (I seriously dont think it will though) but all I can do is try and if not then new motor time. My motor has 110,000miles on it now and I am only running the set level of 7-8 pounds.
Also oil is coming out of the downpipe, if it was within the motor wouldnt becoming out of the exhaust ports? there is no oil coming out of the ports or anywere else on the motor, just right there at the turbo

:-) . Told you.
Flood bearing section can easily cause oil flow problems and i would not doubt that you indeed cracked your center cooling section. It's ALL mixing in the turbo, do your self a favor and Do not even try buying an ebay center section have it professionaly rebuilt.

If you have the mitsu 15T Alpine can rebuild it for you for a fair price. We have the technology. :)

No I am the one that contactd you about the t28 upgrade like a week ago, I still have to call John, I just need to get this up and running ASAP, its the TD04 13g that comes in your kit, feel free to pm me with any suggestions( i.e. prices lol)
Well everyone everything is put back together and guess what, everything runs fine :D So it must have been the kinked oil line (which is no longer kinked) and now I am runing my stock compression once again

Please be careful on stock compression. Your essentially running and Entry Level Kit with a decompressed tune. FYI...we're switching to Borg Warner turbochargers now since they have MUCH better service when compared to Garrett. Give John a call and he can give you a price on a larger BW turbo and downpipe flange.

awsome I will do that I dont go on break until 7:10 pm EST so if he doesnt pick up I will call tomm.
Glad to know you got it straight...kinda
BTW...What is the highest psi of boost you can safely run on stock compression and intercooled?

Im running 7-8 I think Kewlkat is running 12, I think, as of right now I heard the safest is 12 but I can easily be wrong
