Hello. I am the second owner of a 2003 Elantra GLS. I bought it at Car Max. What is the warranty for second owners? 4 years/60K miles?

I think the warranty is just the 5 yr warranty. The 10 yr warranty is taken away. I'm not totally sure though.

5yr/60k basic warranty. The 10yr/100k powertrain only applies to first owners. This should be clearly spelled out in the owners manual, I think.

Yeah as a second owner of an 03 GLS I can confirm its 5yr 60k drivetrain if you want the bumper to bumper you gotta buy a supplemental one from the dealer at purchase I got one for 2 years extra and it bumped my payment like 10bucks a month mind you im getting f'ed in the a at 17+ % intrest.

Which reminds me are the mudflaps/guards something a warranty would cover? On my right front wheel the mud guard broke in half I cleaned it and jbwelded it back together but if its covered under a warranty i'd love to get a new one.

The mudflaps are an accessory, which carry their own separate warranty. It's a 1 year/12,000 mile warranty. Unless they were on the car when you bought it, then it's a 5-year/60K mile warranty.
Covers repair or replacement of any Hyundai Genuine Replacement Parts or Accessory supplied by Hyundai that is defective in material or factory workmanship, under normal use and maintenance.
Genuine Hyundai Parts or Accessories supplied by Hyundai and purchased from an authorized Hyundai Dealer, but not installed by an authorized Hyundai Dealer, are covered for 12 months / unlimited miles.
Accessories installed on a vehicle at the time of or prior to the vehicle's date of first use, are covered under the 5 year / 60,000 mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Accessories installed after the vehicle's date of first use are covered for 12 months / 12,000 miles.

That's incorrect. Second owner gets 5yr/60k bumper to bumper, but not the 10yr/100k powertrain.

No. It's powertrain only.
Covers repair or replacement of powertrain components (i.e. selected Engine and Transmission/Transaxle components), originally manufactured or installed by Hyundai that are defective in material or factory workmanship, under normal use and maintenance. Coverage applies to Original Owner only effective with 2004 Model Year and newer model year vehicles. On 1999-2003 Model Years, coverage applies to Original Owner and immediate family members (i.e. wife, husband, daughter, son, stepdaughter, stepson).
Second and/or subsequent owners have powertrain components coverage under the 5 year / 60,000 mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Excludes coverage for vehicles in commercial use (i.e. taxi, route delivery, delivery service, rental, etc.).

I was going to say I went over the paperwork with the sales guy in depth he was kinda getting annoyed with me at the end. Bringing up all kinds of what ifs and specific questions ended up with him giving me a bigger package for 100 bucks less than he was supposed to. Thanks for the help guys I'll bring it in on my day off (wed) and see if there's anything else my baby needs before I start voiding warranties

Read it again. "Second and/or subsequent owners have powertrain components coverage under the 5 year / 60,000 mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty." The 5yr/60k "new vehicle limited warranty" IS the bumper to bumper warranty. All they're saying is that the powertrain warranty for the second owner is part of the bumper to bumper transferrable warranty. Trust me. I had a few things taken care of under the bumper to bumper warranty and I'm the second owner.

Yeah, looks like you got taken unfortunately. You have a complete bumper to bumper warranty through Hyundai.

I think if you provide them with the documentation from Hyundai showing what is covered and that they obviously sold you something that was already part of ownership, you have a chance at getting your money (but probably not interest paid) returned. I'd be very professional and calm about the approach on getting your money back. If you go in pitching a hissy fit, you'll just get a knee-jerk reaction and you'll put them on the defensive.
