my car is still making the noise that it had the short motor replaced for about a month ago, when i took it back for a second time to try and get it fixed, they said that they couldnt find whatever it is that im talking about and when im driving by and its doing it to call in and they will get someone to listen to it.

i had a sickie from work yesturday so after sleeping for half the day, it ment i was able to go and do some stuff that can only be done during the day (bank **** etc)

coz of the time i finish work and the traffic is quite heavy thru town center at that time of the afternoon, i cant get my elantra down to them on a day that im working before they shut and go home, i used yesturday as a perfect afternoon to go in there and get someone to listen to it!

I just left the car idling from where i pulled into the forecourt of the service dept and went inside, spoke to one of the girls inside, and she called one of the head grease monkey's from the workshop down.

Coz i was there to actually 'point out' as such the sound that is annoying me someone else was able to hear it as well - so THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR NOW!
well... a bit better than before.

my elantra is goign in AGAIN today to have a closer look and listen to work out what is making the noise.

sounds like a bearing or something - and its not the power steering pump or the ac compressor he thinks. thinks it might be the water pump - but will know more today after looking at it

the noise is quite loud.. its hard to miss really.....

said to the grease monkey who looked and listened - at least we know its nothing to do with the short motor!
he laughed at that one.. but i dont think he was toooo amused really lol

so we shall see what they say when i pick the car up thisarve hopefully..

Please don't refer to technicians as "grease monkeys".

We take it in goos stride? Besides i am sure he dosen't mean anyhting bad with the slang seeing as how he realizes he has a problem he can't fix and needs us to fix it for him.

yeah no offence ment by the term grease monkey.

well they actually managed to FIX it this time.. turns out that they needn't have replaced the short motor after all...

the work sheet says that they have "retensioned timing belt"
interesting thought tho.. wouldnt they have had to retension the timing belt when they pulled the old motor to put my new one in and get it all working and the like?

either way, im happy, the car doesnt make the noise anymore :D *dances*

also on the work sheet was "a quality controll check has been carried out on your vehicle"
which should have been done at factory - either way, im am not complaining it has been done again

one of the 2 favourite items is
"complementry wash"
and it hasnt gone thru a carwash - coz all auto carwashes here scratch the hell out of your paint, and there are still no marks on the paint :)
the most favourite part on the worksheet / invoice
"no charge"
yay for warrenty :D

im just glad that they finally managed to fix it after all this time so now i dont have to worry when i decide to go road trippin

Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well ... or were you playing hooky?

That's good news about having your car fixed and your confidence restored in the vehicle. It sucks not knowing if your car is going to make a road trip or not. I had my car in four times for the noise it was making in the front end. They replaced what probably amounts to a waste of over a $1,000 USD in parts before they finally got it right. Now it's all better and I'm not embarrassed to have people ride in my car ... well, except for the interior squeaks and rattles.

It's hard to stand up for Hyundai and their quality when your car makes the noise from hell and your friends ask, "What's THAT"?! After four Hyundais, I think this may very well be my last.

hahah
i did get up to go to work, but i felt like total crap. didnt eat all my brekky - which is unusual coz i *always* eat brekky and when i dont something is wrong.

got in the car - missed the mornign shower part coz i was running late

got to work and said to the 2IC, can i go home - i feel like ****, she said yep so off i went :)

the thought *did* cross my mind to see what i could pick up during the day... but sleep (on my own) seemed a better option at that point in time :P

im loving the car more now - it feels like a new car SHOULD now, doesnt make funny noises and i dunno if its a placebo or whatnot, but it feels smoother to drive now :)

im in love with my car again - sad i know! lol

Well, I'm happy for you ... it's great to be in love with your car again. If I didn't love my car, I wouldn't have put so much time and money into it. There's just days when I love the hell out of it and other days when I curse it and tell it, "I'm trading you in"! I guess it's a love/hate relationship!

By the way ... I got my fog lights installed. YAY! Took me about an hour to mount the lights and wire everything up. Now I'm waiting for another switch to show up that will be the permanent switch on the dash and I'll be done! Thanks for the inspiration, bud!
