Ok what are all the plastic shrouds and covers for? is it going to change anything if i remove them?
I know the cover with the red arrow is just for looks but what about the shroud thingie with the blue arrows? I have it removed right now and cant feel a difference.
Actually when i popped that off so i could get at the headlights i noticed the craptastic airflow design they have! I think imma look into that today.. lil daddy baby car bonding time lol

You'll notice nothing different by removing the shrouds. One thing that is nice about not having them in place is easier access to your air filter, lights, and various other odds and ends that are buried under the plastic covers.

that "plastic thing" acts as a heat shield won't change much if you take it off but will help keep the intake protected from some heat
the cover over the engine is there so that you can hose off the engine bay without loosening the plug wires i think no harm in moving them basically they're there just to make the engine bay 'pretty'

i figured as much.... I like to see and access the engine when i pop the hood..... kinda the point isnt it?

I was told that one of the functions of the hat on the engine was to help reduce noise transmission into the cabin. Myth? Perhaps.

I don't think it affects noise at all. I removed the resonator --> lots of noise (I later put it back). I removed the engine cover --> no difference to my ear.

bad noise without resonator or just loud?

I didn't like the sound at all, but you young wippersnappers might like it.
You don't have to take out the resonator itself, just the tube that connects it to the air box. I think you have to lift the engine compartment fuse box to get to it (which isn't hard at all) and loosen the air box bolts so you can move that around too.

us young whippersnappers love loud things! prolly wont hear it over my stereo lol!

I've removed my valve cover, air flow protector (got a CAI) & also the piece on top of the grill (from when my fog lights were wired up, but don't see any point in putting it back on)
I say go for it! :D

so i removed that lil airway thingie that routes the air from the fender to the filter box,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v486/codenomics/forumstuff/airthingie.jpg
I dont know the actual name of it, it is the piece under the battery. Now the air is going straight into the box, wow that is a sound difference.
The engine kinda bogs when i lay into the gas pedal, I have reset the ECU (disconnected the batt. for like 25 minutes) and then drove it around for a lil bit. Is this just something that is going to happen or should the ECU adjust to this mod?
It sounds like it isnt getting enough airflow, sounds like it is going to stall for a second..... should i pop this back in?

If thats all you changed than it seems likely that has something to do with whats causing it, but I know there is a DIY somewhere for removing a peice of the stock intake system which I can only guess is that is the piece you removed so I'm not sure what the problem could be. What I would suggest you do:
Get a SRI (Short Ram Intake) from eBay for $40 shipped

^^ Same seller I got mine from. I love it and the sound is awesome and it makes the engine bay look much nicer in my opinion. Havent had any problems with it.

if me cutting that piece out caused a problem then putting on a SRI would cause the same thing. all i did was shorten the distance that the air has to travel. I am sure it wont be a problem but if it doesnt go away after a few days i will put that piece back on.

I'm not sure. The only thing that I can think of that I did was I disconnected the batter for like 5 mins but I forgot to hold down the brake so when I put it back on it did nothing and was all screwy until I fixed it, try reseting the ecu again?

holding down the brake? never heard that one!
