Does anybody run a megasquirt in their XD's?? If you dont know what megasquirt is please do not respond to this thread...megasquirt is a standalone ecu that you re-pin to fit the wiring harness. kinda like the chip you install and then use krom but megasquirt does alot more.
What do you need to know about it? It's a PITA to tune thats for damn sure.My buddy has one in a LC2.I may be able to help ya out a lil bit

hey bud, im running one right now. the hardest parts honestly are due entirely to my inexperience. the megasquirt was my first time tuning a car,
first time working with a standalone, the first time working with a megasquirt, etc. a lot of things i'm fighting now are likely because of poorly select engine constants in the beginning and then getting a decent tune from them (ie: 1 squirt simul instead of 2 squirt alternating.)
a lot of your best answers are going to come from oh_beta because he's running the same motor you are. he and i talk quite a bit off the forums and exchange msns info (im on a 1.6). honestly i feel that our trigger angles and all of the other inane settings will be the same. even so i'll try to help where i can.

Just out of curiosity what is the projected cost for a megasquirt setup? I plan on watching this thread closely.

I assembled it myself so...
$195 for the Megasquirt I V3.0
$20 for a open element GM IAT sensor (Not required for N/A)
$75 for KnockSenseMS for knock detection (not required but recommended)
$35 for all the mod kits to add a extra igniter (required), cooling fan, boost control, and nitrous control
$160 for Innovative LC-1 Wideband Cable and sensor. (required unless you have full time access to a dyno to tune on)
$55 for a 18" Wiring Loom to tie in to stock wiring harness (not required but recommended)
So far that's all I need to get the car running and I'm at around $540. But I'm also going turbo so some stuff I bought might not be needed for your application.

I would like to tune my N/A setup since our stock maps suck so much ***.

I wanted to see if anybody had it, and how they liked it. A couple of my friends have megasquirt. They run it on a AE86 with a 20V swap and a E30 bmw on boost. I like the megasquirt cause its cheaper then other standalone's and making it and tuning is not a problem cause I have all the time in the world. Most likely I'll have to get the ign tables off that guy oh_beta. I'm almost done putting my turbo setup together. Just waiting on the downpipe being made and a couple of welds for the I/C piping :D . So when thats gets done its time to start with the megasquirt  . I just started this thread because i think are cars have alot of potential and megasquirt can give us that type of ecu tuning we need without spending a arm and a leg. Im the only person with a hyundai out of the people I chill with, they say Im crazy, i just see something with potential. :D
