STS rules... How do they know?

So I plan on running STS next year. I have a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch, and a Fidanza flywheel. Obviously these aren't allowed in STS. How would they know though??? Not like they are going to pull bellhousing off to check. Is it just them trusting me?

And what class would that put me in? I'm assuming one that would get me slaughtered. I don't have any cats right now, but I still have both of the stock cat's sitting in my garage, so I'm not too worried about that.

I didn't realize this wouldn't be allowed in STS so you got me curious.

Here's what I found in the 2006 rulebook...

Stock category

Alternate components which are normally expendable and
considered replacement parts (e.g., engine and wheel bearings,
seals, gaskets, filters, belts, bolts, bulbs, batteries, brake rotors,
clutch discs, pressure plates, suspension bushings, drivetrain
mounts, etc.) may be used provided they are essentially identical to
the standard parts (e.g. have the same type, size, hardness, weight,
material etc.), are used in the same location, and provide no
performance benefit. The allowance for use of such replacements
does not include camshafts, differential covers, or ring-and-pinion
sets, nor does it authorize the use of piston rings having different
configurations (e.g. “Total Seal”) from those of the original.

And then Street Touring (STS) has the same stock allowances in this regard. I didn't find any allowances for clutch "upgrades" until the Street Prepared class...


Street Prepared category

Any metal clutch assembly, metal flywheel or metal torque
converter that uses the standard attachment to the crankshaft
may be used. Non-metallic friction surfaces (e.g. clutch disks)
are permitted. Dowel pins may be added. Any hydraulic clutch
line may be used. Minor repositioning of the clutch slave cylinder
is allowed to accommodate the alternate clutch, but the unit
may not be relocated and the repositioning may serve no other
purpose. This allowance does not permit the substitution of
slave cylinders or the use of non-original methods of clutch
actuation (e.g. pull type versus push type).
So if you wanted to be legit you'd have to be in FSP. Although nobody would care if you're just competing at local events, especially since you won't see a big benefit from it in your times anyway. The only place it might be contested is at nationals. Although honestly, I doubt anyone would care there either because the '89 Civics dominate STS every time.

In the end you may actually have a more competitive chance in FSP assuming you buy R-compounds.

Yeah I don't have the money to go buy R compounds. I wasn't even thinking about auto x when i did the clutch and flywheel. Not that our stock clutches are good enough to support this driving in the first place. Slippage ftl!!

And to the guy telling me to be a man, and not a scammer. Go fly a kite dude. I was asking a question, and that question didn't involve asking for your negative opinions or you calling me names. I am trying to be legit that is why I am asking these questions before I get involved this summer.

Hey mister my hormones are outta check shut the hell up he didnt say anything about trying to cheat he was curious as to the requirements a lightwheight flywheel and better clutch aint gonna make any worthy advantage it's merley for longevity .
