300 bucks... local muffler shop and they did a really good job. The sound was great rather than losing power i did gain alittle...nothing much but good enough to notice. Just a tip if your gonna go with a dual setup make sure that you do a 2.25'' back and then from the Y back get the stock pipe size. This way even though you split the exit into 2 you still end up when doing the math with a 2.25" system. See most people mess up from the Y back and just go with 2inches which 2+2 ...4 inches ...which wont help you . Yes sure some will say well what about the fart cans you can get with a 4 inch tip.... well that tip is alot short then those Y pipes so they will hurt any performance gains... just my .02

This is a recent thread of Blackcasper that might help you some.

i just did pipes... from the resonator back with a 2.25 since i was worried about keeping my warrenty at the time... everything else was left stock. If you worried about the warrenty then i would do it that way if you wanna push it you could delete the resonator and the cat but you my not pass inspection...in my state as long as you dont have a check engine light on your good but it could be different. anyway if you wanna push it alittle more you could redo the exhaust from the 2nd cat by deleting that and doing a straight 2.25" back and then at the Y doing a 1.25 pipe...but most wont cary such a small size but anyway try to keep them not to big like 1.50 to at the most 1.75.

if your looking for preformance then use a single exaust for a 4 banger engine... dual is more for looks unless you have a tunned up v6 or a v8. dual just adds more weight. but it looks cool.

i have a 'ricey' exaust on mine. but i like it. big fart can, i think the tip is like 4? maybe 5 inches.. lol. sounds deeper then normal because i have 2.5 inch pipe from the cat back with a high flow cat, a gutted mid pipe, and 4-2-1 header.. so yeah. :)

i say just do the pipes either of those ways...and the cops wont mess with you. Yes i myself have a fart can on my car now and it doesnt sound bad but i think if your going for a super ricey look (no offence) then go with those mufflers if not just do the pipes with some nice tips and keep the diameter like the sizes i suggested and you should see the same gains as a single pipe system... its is true that you can weigh yourself down with duals but thats if you start tacking muffers and this and that on but all that really matters in the end is if you like it. ;)

Exactly, dual on a 4 is just a waste IMO of money and weight. You couldn't possibly need it unless you did some MAJOR upgrades. But it does look nice if the tips are done right. An STI with 300+ horse only has a single exhaust, I don't see how it could help an elantra with 135hp.

i have a 2.25" catback with a borla muffler, doesnt sound ricey, and definately HP gains

leave duals for a V-6 +
