So I have a question that was similiar but not the same as the air fuel gauge thread.
Can I take the wideband o2 sensor off a newer elantra, I think it was said they are on 04+ models, and install it in place of my narrowband o2 sensor on my 03 gls ? I want to run an A/F guage off of a wideband o2 sensor and would like to do it on the cheap if possible.
Thanks for your time hope this is possible.

man i have thought of this aswell because wideband sensors have narrowband output for the stock ecu and you can hook up your wideband output to your af meter

Exactly. Does HMA have instructions on replacing an o2 sensor ? I dont know how to hook that up. but would be willing to give it a try
Also searching froogle found these two sensors for sale

Do i need to get an elantra specific sensor or can I use these guys?

though look I would wait for another confirmation, but I have heard those bosch O2 sensors do wonders.
though you have to make sure it has a narrowband output aswell! (which it should)

I hear ya. This would be really cool since its under 100US bucks and would kinda help me from blowing up my engine with too much nitrous oxide. I'm fairly certain these guys have the narrow band o2 output
PS Was searching elantra club and wanted to check this out with you guys as well. I live in texas and dont have a cvvt or w/e engine. do I need to worry about using a heated or non heated o2 sensor? I mean if I get one or the other will my ecu really care?

you can't just repalce a normal narrow band sensor with a wide band sensor,
wide band sensor needs to be keep at a specific temperature wich the ECU needs to control, and the output isn't the same at all
wideband sensor don't have a magical 0-1 volt narrow band type output like some person said
to use a wideband in palce of your stock narrow band sensor you need a controler and converter (innovate,aem....)
here's a pin out and quick pin description for the doubters in you ;-)

Cool deal. I was just going off of an older thread I read
http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showpost.php?p=67670&postcount=23
So is the only way to add in a wideband sensor to purchase a kit ? :( Anybody wanna throw in on this?

Yeah I completely agree with DENIS (he is my idol lol)
BUT:
The only reason I was saying this is because I read SOMEWHERE that widebands (or some of them) do have a separate 0-1 volt narrowband signal somewhere (since they have 6 wires instead of 4?)

they can be confusing,
but the only way is to use some kind of converter or gauge with a 0-1 volt output
the AEM gauge do have this feature and are nicely priced now, they jsut don't have all the datalogging do dads that most good wideband unit have but they'll do quite enough to kee peveryone happy ;-)

Alright well I guess I'll just get a regular old narrowband A/F guage for now and then when I get the money i'll get a wideband kit would like to get an exhaust done first though DAMN! Thought I could get out of this cheap :(
Thanks for the info Denis
