Hey everyone I finally finished getting this accord CAI put on my 03 gls. A couple things were a little different that messed me up and I wanted to share.
First of all taking off the splash guard was a PITA for me so many clips and screws be sure you have a container for all these little parts.
Secondly there are a few screws that are hard to find so before you go yanking and pulling with all your might look around there were about 2 or 3 that weren't in the DIY that had me screaming and cursing.
Third thing be sure that you put all the bolts and screws back where they belong my dumb asz left a bolt off that grounded some wires and my headlights stopped working :( talk about a long process to figure that one out.
Fourth and final thing measure twice cut once. I was sitting there for a good long while cutting and recutting the intake to get it to fit. If you have an electric/power tool then do whatever but me and my hacksaw had a good long talk
Thanks for letting me get that out. On the plus side my other stuff came in and should be getting that installed next week :D hopefully i dont blow myself up XD
So anyone else have this kind of trouble installing their CAI or am i just "mechanically declined"

I didn't find the ground bolt as you said (never had that problem).....but I know what you mean, like the two screws that hold the resantor box in...what a *****.

I thought the CAI was a rather simple install. yea you gotta take the wheel off and the spash guard, but as far as the install its super easy. i had to cut mine at the end to fit the filter on. what ground wire are you talking about?
ps if you had trouble with the CAI, be careful with doing other mods by urself.

I did the headlight ground thing but knew what I did once I turned the car on. Headlights would not work and the right blinker light was stuck on, lol. upps. I dont think that nut even needs to be removed but I took it off and forgot to put it back on.

Thanks for confirming that I wasnt the only one with a few of these problemos. It wasnt a terrible install but it was one of those "learning" experiences. I think what prompted this original post was that I had to cut and recut and recut because I didnt want to cut too much. Anyways Thanks again

Thanks for the request I shall do that when I get home my man. And as some extra information I didnt have to cut the battery tray to fit it in all legit looking. The diameter was either 2.5 or 2.75 inches.

probably 2.75"
heres pics of my accord CAI
It got real tight behind the battery and i had to make the hole into the fender wider. as well as cut the end to make the filter fit. I think mine is a 3".

Most important part! How did it feel?
And when you need to clean the filter, the easiest way is to remove the drivers side headlamp assembly...

Thanks for the tip Ricerrx7. Come to think of it that would have made some parts of this experience go by a little faster
As promissed i went out with my shifty camera and got a few images now I'm not a great photographer as you can tell but
here's my engine bay in all its dirty glory

and again i was aiming at the cai but my viewfinders all scratched to hell so its shoot and pray

These are those wires I was talking about

It turns out they werent connected to the resonator but I thought they were at first so anyway those are the pictures.
I'll try again later if you want but i think you get the idea i hope anyway. I would say that once I got used to the sound of it I like it. It is a significant sound difference at start up and on any driving with the rpms over 2.5k cool part is that now when I'm cruising down the highway my rpms stay under 3k where I used to cruise at 3k kinda neat. Feels pretty good my acceleration still sucks but i wasnt expecting 50 horses or anything :D To sum it up feels good sounds alright and makes me want to do more to my car
Just one quick additional question off of this. When I go faster than 70 i start to get some vibration in the steering wheel more than usual. I've tried tightening up my lug nuts on the tire I removed and they are as tight as I can get em any clues? or suggestions for me Thnx

So you unscrewed those grounds cuz you thought it was attached to the resonator? that makes sense, i couldnt figure out if they were in the way or something. nice pics. no fog lights will help increase cool air flow, but you'll need to clean your filter alot.

Thats why I undid mine. I felt it snag on something in that general area.

For the vibration you need to get your tires balanced.
The CAI will not change your revs in relation to your speed, you must be imagining that part...
