I installed an OBX UD pulley on my 4 cyl. tiburon... all went well, until I tried to put the tensioner back on, which is immediately to the left of the crank pulley. I've spent 5 hours trying to figure it out, and I can not.
I don't know what order the pieces go, and no matter how I put them in, the tensioner will not spin when tightened up against the belt. It makes this horrible noise, which is my belt grinding itself to death... That is the best of circumstances.
Some ways I put it together, there is a loud metallic noise which I realized was something ont he tensioner grinding into the mounting bracket.
I am totally screwed if I can't get this put together sometime soon as I need my car. Plz help! Pics would be phenomenal. As would a diagram. or even someone to descrbe what order to put the pieces together in.
THanks so much!

I would suggest directing Tiburon questions to the Tiburon forum. Some one may have an idea here but your first mistake was buying a 4 cyl. tibby...lol j/k second was to not remember how everything came off the car.

Try there while your waiting for a response here.

I've got a post on NewTiburon as well. I really wish I would have paid attention when I took that off... esp. since I realize now that I didn't even HAVE to take it off, I could have just loosened it.
Here are the belts: dayco polycog (4pk) 5040330 and (4pk) 5040315...

dunno man it seems like the only thing wrong might be the tensionner itself, did you think you could've wedged anything in there or something of the sort? or damage it in any way?

Worse case scenario = get it towed to a mechanic and pay him an hours rate to fix it.

i assume you're talking about the tensioner for the p/s? since that is the only actual belt with a tensioner since the alternator is simple. try greasing up the tensioner. did you maybe lose a bearing or something on it? i haven't seen the tensioner on the beta since late july so you're going to have to try explaining better. or pm me and i'll give you my number and try my best to help
