View Full Version : Coolant Hoses?

After 141K miles & 6 years I reckon it's time to change the coolant hoses on my Y2K Elantra.

Looking under the hood I see three hoses. Seems pretty straightforward.

Am I missing something?

I like OEM hoses due to bad fitting aftermarket stuff on my old Ford. Any reason not to go OEM? I will take my own lube to the dealership... :D

Thanks!

Get the OBX ebay ones for the Tiburon 2003

actually i have to change one of mine also, my upper radiator hose is leaking where it connects to the engine. It is leaking out the end of the hose, i think that i might just have to buy a new hose clamp to put on there. I am thinking that the stock one might have been adjusted and loosened the clamp up. I hate those crappy pinch type clamps

i got a replacement upper hose from pep boys for like $3.50, you need to cut about an inch and half off one end, but other than that its a direct fit

I dont even think that i need a hose, i think it is just that stupid OEM clamp.

it's probably the clamp
I have 2 serpentine clamps on now and the leak I used to have all but stopped... sometimes it drips a drop or 2 on a long drive though.

I have the OBX hoses from Ebay, but they are known to leak at the ends... They sure do look nice, and like I stated above, if you double clamp it, it will not leak significantly.
