hey

well this is my 2002 Hyundai Elantra GL (RHD)

Im a big Audio guy so i had to add my system :)

First I started by upgrading my wires with 0 gauge. I have 6 0gauge earths to the body and two runs to my amp.
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r112/TeAmShonKyRoo/post-13952-1163391076_thumb.jpg

I then installed my trusty old Sony headunit
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r112/TeAmShonKyRoo/ampremote.jpg

i didnt like the sound of the stock speakers so i swap them out for some Jaycar Splits. i mounted the tweeters on the a pillar. disconnected rear speakers
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r112/TeAmShonKyRoo/tweeter.jpg

so now i got the wiring, headunit and speakers done it was time for the serious gear. I put in a couple of switches so that i can control my sub amp and splits amp
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r112/TeAmShonKyRoo/switches.jpg

I decided to go all out on a DD9515 subs daul 1 can be wired to 2ohms of daily and .5ohms for burps. i dont have a pic before installed it but here it one
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r112/TeAmShonKyRoo/9515f_side.jpg

So i built a box 5 cubicft with a huge port
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r112/TeAmShonKyRoo/post-13952-1162888723_thumb.jpg

and put it in my car it fits!!
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r112/TeAmShonKyRoo/newinbootwithnewport.jpg
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r112/TeAmShonKyRoo/subfromoutside.jpg

mounted my sub amp on the box
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r112/TeAmShonKyRoo/amponbox.jpg

hooked it all up and its crazy! its 148.3dbs loud! db drags street B legal.

here are some videos of the DD9515 in action

i also updated my amp to a Digital Designs M3
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r112/TeAmShonKyRoo/m3.jpg
at the moment i only have one 10 in my car and hits so hard, when ever someone has a listen they like 2 x 15s and i open the boot and its a single ten there like omgz!!

i been working on putting a S15 bodykit on to the elantra
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r112/TeAmShonKyRoo/kit3.jpg
i think its coming up great, just need to fibre glass the bits between the lights and grill then abit of paint. should come up nicely

at the moment im working on my grill again as the paint went all funky im thinking im going to 2 pac it or get carbon firbe on it.

im also saving up for a pair of 19inch wheels to make her look sex, also got to track down some skirts and rear bar to make her look nice

How good are you at 'glassing? You should try to mold either vents or a set of fog lights in the area between the lights and the grill.

wow 148 on a single woofer is amazing. what kind of power are putting to the new set up? have you had the new subs tested yet to see what kind of numbers they are doing?

what ohms were you running when you hit 148?

stereos make me drool something bad

i got a 148.3 with 1500rms running a amp at .5ohm, didnt end up using the 10s so i brought another 15, with 2 amps on the single 15 i get 150s, with 2 amps on the 2 15s i get 151.8.

i have a 1 ohm stable amp do you think i could SAFELY bridge that for competition to .5 so i can get bigger numbers??

its 1600rms amp running 1200rms sub and the sub is 2x 2ohm coils.

because i would like to get into the mid 140's best i have right now is 140even

i would say no, i seen many audiobahn amps smoke at there stable ohms, best bet would be upgrade the sub :). i forgot to say i had a play around with a DD8inch and got a best of a 145.9 with about 3000rms going to it. i think thats pretty impressive for a single 8inch woofer

^^thats crazy on an 8" sub.

yea i was pretty sure that if i droped ohms anymore it would be bad. and those amps are too expensive to be replacing. i got mine on a super deal so i cant buy another one if i wanted to.

You should make a fiberglass enclosure it saves you alot of weight. I had 2 x 1000watt xplods with a 12" and four 6x9 in a wood box. NEarly got a hernia mounting it and removing it, but now I mounted a fiberglass one that I can lift the whole enclosure, minus the speakers and such, with one arm. I wish I had a 5 door though, mine is a 4 door so it was a b!@#$ mounting it, had to take the whole trunk door off. Trust me it is better. How did you run the amp switch? I use a high current relay switch I got for 80 bucks online.

a high power relay for an on/off?

i just split the remote wire a few times and used 1$ relays from some crap shop when i had my amps on switches. all it needs in an on/off so i wasnt worried about the extra run. it worked fine

KeWLKaT
11-19-2007, 04:25 PM
Seriously. The remote wire is like a 18AWG wire... How much current do you think goes through that? LOL

jobzombi
11-19-2007, 08:36 PM
well my one amp is always on and my second amp will turn on when I flip the switch on. I didnt want to splice into the amp rem wire.

MY relay switch goes from the actual power wire that feeds power to the second amp from the battery.

optimoprime
11-20-2007, 03:32 AM
oh... thats diffrent. why did you put it on the power wire? if anything i would put it on the earth wire. but in all reality i wouldnt touch either one, the remote wire is needed for them to power on and you dont interupt the power delivery with a switch right on the power wire.

jobzombi

I am just a dummy, I didn't know if I could do that with the REM or not so I used the power. If it is not getting power the amp is simply off. No that I think about it I simply feel stupid T_T

optimoprime
11-20-2007, 01:47 PM
well dont feel stupid man, now ya know ;) so when ya get some spare cash you can switch it up.

11-20-2007, 05:55 PM
for the question on the switch that get the *****es, i just have my remote wire going from headunit then split it in to and that goes to the switches then 2 runs go to the amp, no need for a relay as they are not that powerful
