DONE :) Finished pics on pg 2 posts: 24 & 28
Just received the TSX projectors today with a set of Phillips 5000k D2s bulbs. I just have pictures for now. Hoping for the retrofit to be fully functional within this month.

YAY a another retro good look man... its been a pain to get my retro moving along but its coming along good... even though i didnt meet my deadline which was the day after chirstmas. Should have them done by the middle of jan.
How ya planning to retro them...?
if i could make a suggestion i would dremel the back of the low beams and drill . Then use the same screw size that keeps the projector together but get it longer so that you can mount the projects using the bolts that keep them together... just my .02

I ran into a slight problem recently regarding the retofit. I found out that I have left my d2s connectors back in Indiana, so it looks like I will be 2 wks behind schedule. I might go ahead and buy some new connectors or just buy some spare headlamps somewhere.

That was exactly the way I was planning. I figured it would be better than drill holes to the rear of the housing. My roomate just finished a successful tsx retrofit with his 99 accord and that is what he did as well.
Thanks for the support.

i wish i had the balls/skill to do this...i want to get some HIDs in my integra...being that the stock halogens are halogen projectors, and seeing how well HIDs worked in halogen projectors in my g/fs mazda3, i might just do that

Had some time today, so I decided to take some test pics of the projectors. There are currently 6000k bulbs in here with the color mod. My headlights are still on the way here....

If you are referring abt after the retrofit then a decent amount. There is a large enough space inbetween the two projector partsfor light to emit through. I will have to devise up a way to make a custom shroud and most likely paint it black.
I will oficiall start this weekend. Stay tuned for pictures :D

Update:
Turns out that the seller accidentally sent me two driver's side headlights. Looks like only one retrofit will be done for now. Made some progress today. Dissasembled the housing and cut part of the chrome reflector part. The TSX projector fits in well. Just need to buy/fabricate a shroud and mount the projector securely.

Update
I was able to make final adjustments with the main hole that I cut for the projectors. I thne taped up 1/2 the projector and made slits for mounting of the screws. I decided not to go with the custom fabricated shroud I made. I need to find something else that will work.
Anyways here are some pics:

if thats a 6-8 ft privacy fence like it looks like, you need to adjust them down a little bit so you're not blinding anyone on the road. i know the lights in my g/fs mazda 3 are maybe at about my waist level when shining on my building...about 30-36" off the ground.
other wise looks ok

Yeah the aiming definately off. I need to re-adjust the projectors today and maybe start the other side.
Thnx for the shroud ideas everyone
EDIT
Finally done with the retrofit for now. This task on hand was definately more difficult that it really seemed. It took about a total of 20 hrs. The bulk of the retrofit consisted of mounting the projector with precisely drilled holes and the aiming of the headlights.
I will continue to search for shroud options. Do to time limitations I had to get this done.

Yes it would be easy to cut to form to the back of the reflector housing. I think I found an alternate means for the shroud.
Looks like the headlights will be back to the oven tommorrow =)

Thanks! But once you start getting into retrofitting other cars, specifically those with much smaller headlights, you will find that retrofitting the Elantra will seem like a walk in the park compared to those.

Infiniti headlights. Pretty sure they would look out of place in a Elantra. Just my .02
Also I prefer the shroudless look to be honest. I think the shrouds look like an after thought. My friend had a 87 Porsche 951 that he did a projector retrofit too. He left it shroudless, and it looked really cool. However the rest of it looks top notch to me. Very nice work.

Those aren't TSX projectors. The best way is to find the projectors on ebay and piece the the retrofit seperately. The projectors alone usually will run you anywhere from 150-200 shipped. Make sure you get the 04-05 projectors, 06+ has a lense that is less clear. I forget the exact term for this. You can get oem phillips components at around 300shipped if your lucky. I have some barely used non-oem ballasts and some phillips 4200k 85122+ d2s bulbs. PM me if you are interested.
Here is a ebay aution for TSX projectors:TSX Projectors (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-Acura-TSX-Clear-Lenses-HID-OEM-XENON-Projectors_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33710QQihZ01 3QQitemZ230096052122QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)
Price:
150-200 tsx projectors
300 oem ballast+bulbs+connectors
Total: 450-500 for the main components

Did you use a harness for your retro?
Hey Ash, originally I didn't use a harness since it would be alright at the oem 35watt rating. Since then I have been running with hi power 50w ballasts with about 20-25% better output. I am using a relay harness with it though. I have also switched my bulbs to the Phillips 85122+, which is less resistant to color-shift maintaing the better output. I noticed that the cutoff is more purplish then dark blue like it once was.
Took some pics tonight. It might be hard to tell the visible differences between the current(4200k) to the past(6000k).

Over the past few years the lense on my headlight started to wear down pretty bad and looked faded. It robbed some color and a tad bit of output as well. I applied a 4 step process. Results are simply astonishing! My driver's side actually looks practically brand new. The passenger unit still needs a bit more touch up.

htekric3r1200
03-31-2007, 02:17 PM
What is the diffrence between the 85122+ and the 85122 and the d2S?
The 85122+ is rated at 4200k
The 85122 is rated at 4300k
The 85122 color shifts faster, thus looses ouput at a faster rate than the 85122+. The 85122+ does in some cases look a bit yellow. The 85122 will eventually look whiter with time due to color shifting.
D2s is a bulb which is designed for hid projector housings. H7 bulbs or any other type of bulbs will not be able to fit in the d2s specific housings. The D2s has a completely different base than the h7 bulb base. I believe the focal points on the d2s are better, but h7 is still pretty good.

4 washers total for each projector and I didn't bend the shield. Place the washers on the two numbs sticking out on the bottom of the projector. You should experiement with the projectors out of the car to see what you like best.
