the last meet was fun and i believe that all that were involved also had some fun ;)

although i'm hoping to have it in a park not in the mall parking lot again..being as harrassed from mall patrol is not fun. :eek:

The problem with that part of May is that most young people have school exams which can prevent the people that aren't local from coming. I know this stopped me from coming to meets while I was in college, and I didn't even study that much.

With that said, if you can get all of the PA people to come and the New England people to come I'm sure us MD and VA people could make it.

usually finals are like the first week...i'm looking at the third weekend in may...depending on when my wife gets off...we are supposed to go to florida come may or june...so this is just a guage...but what you said makes sense and i too was there at some point.

damn my knowledge of PA! i was like sweet, another close one, but it would take me about 5 hours to get there.. well, if it was a fri or sat then maybe.. but i doubt id wana drive 10hrs in 1 day. if there was a place to crash, then id have a better chance of makin it.. weekdays are bad for me, and sundays not the greatest. but i could prolly make a fri or sat its a good bit away, but ill keep en eye out on the thread.. if things start to lock in ill figure out something

As long as we'd get permission from the owners of the shopping center, the cops should have no say in it if we're just hanging out. Its private property that South Whitehall township (assholes) patrol...but we shall see.

I'll talk with both the shopping center owners and the Management at Red Robin (Restaurant on far end of lot...lots of places like that enjoy events like that to drum up business/attract attention)

Do you really think it would be that much of an issue? Technically we would be patronizing the restuarant and participating in an event on their site...so long as we have management approval, the cops should have no right to ***** about it, given that we have permission to be there-Its not like we'd be doing anything illegal (i.e. Street racing, burnouts, etc.).

Hahahaha...understatement of the year...I hear that completely. They usually hang out in the strip mall lot in the evenings. Its rare for them to be around on Sunday afternoons...usually theres one or two there whenever the movie theater has a lot of people around, but otherwise...

I'll double check with Red Robin about this to make sure, but they didn't seem to mind. Maybe I can also see if they'd be interested in bringing food out to us if we bring tables and chairs. Meet and Eat in the lot type thing...

the race track is right up the street from me....I HATE the vacationers. Take the 5:30 pm rush hour traffic and cramp it all into city streets. The cops have to close the road down and make it one way (towards the race in the morning and away from the race at night). So I can only leave home one way and come back 30 mins diff out of my way. allentown is pretty crazy on the weekends with traffic as it is, add in the construction on 22 :eek: . It should be done by the time of the meet though if it's not already........I hope

Sounds like a plan, the 12th will work too.. Now we just need a place to put in my GPS :) I just got back from several months the desert & we took the long way. thru Europe had to make a side trip to fix the landing gear (good thing about airplane design if it fails it fails is a safe mode, ie gear down ahahah) It appears all the dirt landing took it's toll on the inner gears, we were 2 stops from home. Also where I was in the desert I was 8 hours ahead of the east coast & my day started at midnight so every day was tomorrow. So I have no idea what day of the month or week it is..... I'll will shortly but I'm marking my calander now :)

Dorney Park is always good for fun, and you get discounted admission if you go after 5 PM (and you can still hit all the worthwhile rides that way too) and I also believe there are some bowling alleys and mini golf courses around in the area as well...

We can have a "local" (hint Ilan :rolleyes: ) to make sure the place is OK.. one of the places I was Sterling Hotel (http://www.thesterlinghotel.com/) but it has a link for a Crown Plaza Hotel with might be a little pricey but you are downtown. I was looking for a place under 80.. the closer to zero the better.
Altho there are a bunch of hotels around the area. Humm I'll look up (suggest) a hotel that is decent & at a decent price that is the area.. We can have a "local" (hint Ilan :rolleyes: ) to make sure the place is OK.. one of the places I was Sterling Hotel (http://www.thesterlinghotel.com/) but it has a link for a Crown Plaza Hotel with might be a little pricey but you are downtown. I was looking for a place under 80.. the closer to zero the better.
Altho there are a bunch of hotels around the area. I'd be game for going in on a few hotel rooms to hang out and have fun at the evening before the meet. There are a few right off I-78 on route 222, and I also believe there may be a days in a short hop up rte 309 from where the meet will be.

Update:Stopped by red Robin today, let them know that we had about 20-40 people who would be attending this. Also, I realized that the last time i spoke with them was before the date got changed, so i let them know that as well. They're double checking to make sure we'll be able to fit/work out well with them for that day. If they fail, I know a few parks in the area and a few other restaurants that I can chat with on the fly.

Next, I went over to Vinart Hyundai, who didn't seem all too interested, although they said the advertising/PR guy wasn't around, although they did give me his number and whatnot, so I shall call him tomorrow.
