View Full Version : just turned over 100K
This weekend we drove up to the North Shore (Duluth MN area) and on the way home the odo rolled over (or went to 1XXXXXX, duh). In the last 7 years, the only things that have needed replacement were maintenance things, oil/tires, etc. Well, I did put a new battery and waterpump/T-belt in it. For anybody else with similar mileage, what else can I expect? CV joints? Alternator? THis car has been phenominally reliable (knock on wood) especially since it was a rental car before my girl bought it.
Another Q, who's got the highest-mileage Elantra?

awww, site's XD and mine's not....this one at least... but I'm sitting at 125K and a timing belt broken has me sitting out until I can get back to the car and get it done right this time. Missing my '93 :)
Edit....ok well I'm out of the running anyway...you're miles :P you've got 160 of my measure. :(

That's OK, either is mine (2000) :)

My Y2K wagon just turned over 141K miles.
Other than usual maintenance stuff I've replaced...
2 transmissions. 1 under waranty at about 3K miles. 1 my bad at about 130K miles. Note: Today's CEL aint just about smog stuff! :(
1 starter
1 cooling fan
Shocks at 120K. (Like getting a new car! :D)
2 window regulators
That's about it.
FWIW I'm religious about oil & coolant changes & have always run 5w50 Syntec. I can tell you from now on I'm also gonna be right on top of my ATF level, too, at $2500 a pop!

I got everybody on lock with this one, 147,891 miles and mine is a 2002 XD. I just replaced the clutch master cylinder and besides that I have a spec clutch cause of the N.O.S, the oem one still had life in it. And of course normal maintenance like oil changes and radiator flushes. My check engine light is on because of O2 sensors. I am very worried about the T-belt. Dont worry these cars are pretty damn good. My XD has been on the bottle for almost 7 months and not one hickup from the engine. Long live the crooked H!!!!
2003 XD has 178,585 miles today. Just replaced fuel rail oscillation damper (second time).

Mine's a 2000 at 105k and I just replaced my CV joints. The clutch, clutch master cylinder and clutch slave were all replaced a few months ago, and I'm about to replace the valve cover gasket. The transmission's also going out.
Two of my door locks have stopped working, so has my back left window. The cruise control doesn't work anymore, and three spots on the body are beginning to rust.
Lastly, I have one more problem that is undiagnosed, but the mechanics seem to think it's my catalytic converter.
wow, I'm sorry to hear about all those problems... where is the rust happening? My car lives in super-salty Minnesota, and only the scratches on the hood where paint got scraped off, and the things on the back window between the part that rolls down, and the little non-moving window is rusting. Where else should I be looking?

There's three spots on my car... two being the two little strips between the back windows, like you said on your car, and the last one being a spot where the previous owner dented in a small part of the body under the driver's side door, and the edge of the dent is starting to rust.

My 99 wagon is at at 121k, and all it's had done is brakes, front wheel bearings, and belts. Besides the mods, of course!

i rolled over 100k mi about two weeks ago, didn't notice because i always have one of the trip meters i'm using for gas mileage displayed.
i should probably put a new timing belt in.

Just turned over 130,000 miles on my 02 GT, I put a new clutch in 5K ago and am going to replace the slave and master cyl. I replaced the timing belt at 75, 000 and I gotta say it was one of the easier (I've done hondas toyotas mazdas and nissans) I'll probably change it out again at 50K. Otherwise no problems other than a MAP Sensor that I ruined by putting 4 quarts of oil in at oil changes.

02 xd with 99561 miles. oil changes every 3000-3500 miles, and after 40000 miles always with full synthetic at 3000-3500. ran about 10 bottles of nitrous thru her (80shot), 1/4 mile dragged it, ayto crossed, been thru 5 suspension setups. all maitinence has been done to a T. replaced a starter, replaced battery, intermittent heating probs with heater on at idle now, drivers door lock actuator is not working. all in all, a great trouble free car.

Rolled over 156,000 a couple months ago on my 2002 XD, dont remember exactly what its at now. Besides the normal maintenance, timing belts, etc. i have not had any real major repairs, other than the mods ive done to the car. I also replaced the front wheel bearings after i screwed up the right one trying to replace THE FRONT ROTORS FROM HELL

I had that replaced 3x in 60K on my 2002. I'm now at about 65-66K, so I can't compete in the high-mileage game.
In the nearly-6 years I've had the car the only things (other than maintenance and 'upgrades') I've had to do was replace the battery (last summer), one headlight bulb 2 years ago, a thermostat (under warranty at 60K, 3 months ago), and the aforementioned damper.
I changed the springs/struts at 30K, but that was an upgrade - not maintenance/repair. I also replaced the OEM Michelins in November, and have alternate wheels/tires for summer. I also broke the drivers' outside door handle a week ago, need to fix that.
