So my oil retrun line finally worked its way through the heat wrap and onto the downpipe creating an oil leak. I temporarily patched it but couldnt get it to thread itself properly onto the drain plug on the oil pan so I ended up stripping a thread on it. So until I can get a new longer one from Alpine or wherever, I need to replace it with a completely different line.
So my question to you guys is:
What types of materials would be safe to use temporarily for an oil return?
here is an example of something I had lying around that I thought I could use

that oil is going to be freaking hot, that rubber line won't cut it.
Try and find someone who will sell you just normal stainless steel lines by the foot.
1/2 inch or so black rubber hose.As far as heat, the oil isn't that hot. After running the piss out of my car the temp of the oil according to the hi-scan was 185 deg f.

IMO you could also use hoses for automatic tranny oil cooler, they are made just for that : hot oil

okay, thanks guys. I'll see what I come up with at the auto store and if nothing then ebay it is.
I was hoping to get this fixed today.....It's gets annoying after driving the car having the smoke from burnt oil coming up outta the hood and people going "You know you car is smoking, right?" as if I was completely ignorant of the fact LOL

nothing wrong with triple checking lol. I wanted to be sure before replacing anything.
I ended up getting like 3' of some 5/8 heater hose, perfect fit, just too tight of a space to work in. Its held up well so far after a couple errands I had to run and the excess oil has burned off (no more smoke) but still oily under there.

so how close was the return line to the d/p
It was a little more than resting on the dp. I can't really blame alpine for it since the return line was designed to attach somwhere on the block. Me using it to go to the oil pan made it rest on the downpipe enough to rub a hole through the heat wrap and cause a leak through the return linel
PS. 05xd - My line is exactly where that line you linked is
