View Full Version : 30,000 KLM service - 60,000 KLM service difference?
I change my oil and filter.Every 7,500 klm, I buy the oil filter and sump plug washer off my dealer and use Mobil Synth S. The major service`s, in this case the 30,000`s I let them do. Brake fluid, clutch fluid, coolant and air cleaner. 30,000 KLm service with me doing the oil and filter cost me 180 AUD, I was ok with that, I don`t wanna deal with coolant and brake fluid if I can avoid it.
I`m at 57,000 klm, I was going near the dealer ( who has recently changed hands ) I ask about the 60,000 service, $420! It`s $360 with me changing the oil and filter! X2! Double!!!! WTFFF!!!!
Is there any difference between a 30Klm and 60 Klm service to warrant this? I can`t see it, or have these bastards sprouted dorsil fins??
Cause they are wanting exactly DOUBLE what the 30,000 cost. it`d have been under 12 months ago too, not like years and years.
Ima ring another dealer and inquire, then my main dealer I`ll ask to see the manager.
Unless there is some kind of error, I`ll be telling them to BASH it up their arse.

I don't know why it would be so much more unless they didn't cover everything in the last service. Just wait till it's time to do the timing belt and water pump service ... it will be double again ... $765 USD ... I'll let you figure what that is for AUD.
I`ve done the math on that one :( its 15,000 klm away...
I`ve gone over the reiceits ( I never throw anything away  ) and it all seems to be there..
While I was there I looked at a Grandeur ( top of the range Hyundai sedan, forget what US calls them ) a black one, sandy yellow sorta leather, oooh la la it was swank. 17-55-235`s on it, chick who came over to stich me up with one said i could take one for 24 hour test... Heh, I did an 1100 klm round trip in my Elantra on monday, wish I`d have known then!

We call it the Azera here. They are very nice but I like the Sonata better.

Yeah same, the Grandeur is an absolute dream to drive, but it's just too big for my liking. Also I really hated how the parking brake was an extra pedal.
I wouldn't mind getting a tiburon for 24 hours, but the thought of a dealer hassling me afterwards doesn't appeal.
Anyhow, in reference to the OP, it really shouldn't be that expensive. Do you get a detailed worksheet with the dealer services? I don't know because I get it serviced privately. If you can, find out what other extra things they'll be doing to warrant the price hike. Good luck.
I ogled the Grandeur for some time at Hyundai Au. website then flicked over to the tib, errr I went back to the Grandeur. My step son is 14, is 1.9 m ( 6` 3" ) and 93kg ( 200 lb) my younger kids are showing signs of doing the same " bigger " is on my horizon! I prefer the rear - tail light area on the Grandeur to the Sonata hands down.
It craps me off that Hyundai decided to take such a quantum leap in standard appointments straight after I purchased my car :( First, 5 minutes after I signed up, the FX came out, I WOULD have bought one over a base model.
Story of my life really, back on topic, I`m gunna start getting to the bottom of this service thing soon as the shops open .. I have every peice of paper ( even the Castrol floor protectors ! ) they`ve ever given me at the dealership, so I have detailed itemised accounts, and I can not see any diff tween 30 and 60 K.
we shall see..
Aight, the difference appears to be the fue filter gets changed. It lives in the tank, no? I wonder if it`d cost 180 Aussie Roubles to supply and fit a fuel filter. I gotta go past the Hyundai Shop, So I` ll inquire.

I don't know for the XD fuel filter cost but the J2 is 25 CAN$ at the dealer, even Napa and other parts stores are above 40$ ...
So if I were you I would save myself some $$$ and do it ... here is the DIY for the fuel filter :

Thanks, jalmir. There is no way I can see 180 in parts and labour there. time for some probably useless counter thumping..
