Well as I have said in another post I got a ticket and the more I think about it the more I think there going to take my lisence for a year soo I'm getting ready to bite the bullet. I think *I hate to say this* I'm going to have to sell the elantra to pay for everything because I just don't have the money to pay for the ticket......But the way I'm thinking is that while I can't drive for a year and I won't have insurace to worry bout I might as well go ahead and build a nice car so when I get it back its ready to roll ;).....I used to have a 91 eclipse that I was working on but I sent it down the road *I hate that I did that*but I have stumbled on 3 cars all for less then 1500. An 95 eclipse which is running but the engine needs alot of work but is kitted and primed so thats a bonus but its the one that cost the most at $1500. There is a 92 Mazda Miata for $100 but it needs the most work like new interior, engine and some body work. The last car is the common crx I'm not sure what year but it needs a new engine and it cost $800. Well I'm not buying now but if things go down hill the chances are I will get one of these I just wanted to see which one of the three do you like most

Get the Miata if you can. Its RWD plus its pretty light. It won't do well in a straight line, but it can corner like no tomorrow. Plus its a convertible...Girls love convertibles.

But for $100, its a pretty good deal, especially if you have a lot of down time to go to junkyards and get parts and do all the work that needs done to it.

gils like my ride ;) lol yea I'm going to go look at the eclipse again i dont think its a GXS or TSI but hey i can convert it I mean I'm going to have alot of time to work out probs plus I will be able to walk to and from work so its no prob if its not working right away......

its going to take a lot more work than you think to go from a 420a to a 4g63t. youd be better off to find an AWD 6 bolt 4g63t and work on it from there.

Is it a GSX? And is it even possible to do a conversion? Well, nevermind, is it monetarily FEASIBLE to do a conversion? Are the parts available?

If you're going to put a lot of work into something, make sure its going to be worth it, because I'm guessing you may have whatever vehicle you get for an extended period of time...

I'm not sure I will try and swing by tommorow and see but one thing is that the eclipse is an auto and I'm not really sure if I get rid of the auto I have if I would want to get another one besides I think thats one reason I was speeding I never notice how fast I'm going and besides a manual is just sexyer and the thought of puting so much work in a car just to have it cripled by the transmition.......

I would wait and see what the result of your court date is. No use worrying about things that haven't happened yet. What's your insurance giong to be like on any of these cars? If you do have your license suspended, when you get it back your rates will be through the roof. You may want to look for a non-tuner car to keep your insurance within what you'll be able to pay.

yea well I have a 2002 so yea and any XD I have looked around here is like 5,000 which is kinda out of my range including that I REALLY want to go to college....hyunelan2 yea I see your point but I would rather be prepered and not ride on the fact that I'm going to get off of easy and when I do get my lisence back if i lose it I'm probly going to get liablity which would cost 100 but with this I'm going to guess it will jump to 200 which I HOPE I will be able to aford

^^^Liability would cost you $100 now... it could triple (or more) once you have a suspension on your file. Before you spend a year of your life rebuilding a turd, you should want to be sure you'll be able to keep your creation when you get the license back.

If it's gone for a year you have a long time to find a car and work on it. No need to rush out and decide on one of these 3 options.

get an old vw transporter or bug.. that way with only 30-50hp youll stop getting tickets in the first place ;)

id say get the miata.. but with a possible loss of license with an elantra.. d say be carefull in something thats even faster

also insurance will sky rocket with a car that qualifys as a "sport" vehicle

when i bought my elantra i priced a tib and a stang.. i coulda made the payments.. but the insurance was too high for either of them and i couldnt afford it.. even my buds old *** 4 cyl camaro went into the highest insurance class, and it had crap power.. sure looked like it had some guts though heh

I like the eclipse but if you cant get one with a standard transmission and 4G63T in it then something else might be a better choice. Just my 2c I would hit up craigslist and see what you can get for how much you wanna spend

^^ well its not about power more of control for me :) well I DIDN"T mean to speed I know I was in the wrong but there is a shopping center....well its like a foodlion pizza hut and some other small things* a long story short i have a friend that knows the dude that owns all the stores and he lets up use it as sort of a track as long as its like early in the morning 2-3 soo thats were i satesfy my speed at...so if I was looking for the rush I would have gone there but I was just tired and its been a long weekend so I messed up. Well I'm going to go look around some more might even try and find a 240sx *my dream car* there is no need to rush thats what got me here in the first place.

i vote crx...I have one that im building and I swear the aftermarket support is limitless. so many options and engine swaps range from $500 to $5000 depending on how much power and what engine you want to drop in.

screw honda. 4g63t holds down dsm pride! or the miata. RWD owns ;)

I'd go with the Eclipse (but I'm a little biased). I had a '98 and it was a great car. Don't be fooled by the lack of a 4g63. The 420A has tons of mods available for it, including bolt on turbo kits.

The engine bay is taylored to the engine. A 420A is in a comletely diffifent position then the 4g63, you would have to strip everything out. It's been done, but its a ton of work for something that may not be needed.

Pretty much everything you need can be gotten for the 420A. Here's a link if you want to see. Plus you have mulitiple DSM support forums.
