I just bought an 06 gls and to avoid voiding my waranty i have to keep the damn mass airflow sensor. Is there any possible way to put a nice intake on without a bunch of hassle?

uhh... forget the warranty, you need the maf to make the car run properly.
If you want an intake that has provisions for the maf, the injen cai for v6 tib fits. Otherwise it isn't very difficult to splice in the maf into an accord intake or whatever.

or if youre that worried about it, think about the stock airbox cai :poke:

you could order a fujita or injen cold air, i have the injen but i would much rather have the fujita, but its also a wee bit of money

Get the Accord intake. It can be had for under $50 shipped, its easy to install, and if you have to de-mod for warranty purposes, its fairly easy to do that as well. Don't waste your money on one of the higher priced ones...

Do you even understand how your car works? PLEASE do some reading before you modify anything.

^ i agree with above statement.

i think that what 'jlaudiosucks' said is by far the most ignorant thing i've read on the forum! hahahahaa

no hard feelings man but... damn... dont knock on the MAF sensor it's the only thing that makes your car run right.

^Man, talk about the pot calling the kettle black! That statement was just as ignorant! The MAF is the ONLY thing making your car run right? What about the O2 sensor, TPS, pistons, valves, cam shafts, etc?

I think what KeWLKaT ment to say, is that if he take the MAF out, the car won't run normally and it will begin to have problem with it. The air flow meter or if you prefer "MAF" is there to calculate the quantity of air going in the engine so the ECU can mix the right quantity of fuel to make the engine run smoothly. If you take that out, the computer won't be able to do so and your car won't run as it should. It is kind a rough explanation, but i think you get the picture. Right!

for those of you dissing on me it is because i work on perfomance v8's that have carbs and all of the old school **** on them i'm not used to working on computer controlled engines that have to have all the extra crap to make them run

Well then I guess it's time you entered the new millenium huh?

So. . . I'm guessing to make ita "performance V8" it has to have a carb huh? I guess he's never seen an LS1/LS2/LS6/LS7/LQ4 engines? Or the older L98 TPI or LT1/LT4?

May I make a suggestion? Leave the car stock until you know how it works. It'll save you a ton of headaches and money.

Not dissing you. Just trying to get you to understand how your car works before you try to get rid of essential sensors.

^^ +1 take it from me the only time your going to get dissed on here is if you need it..........unlike big V8's our "little" cars require that every thing be in place to run top notch and it doesn't take much for them to be competting against v8's either because your going to be dealing with a whole new weight ratio these cars *to me other people have diffrent opinions* can get alot quicker and because of them being so small are MUCH easier to control thats my .02 on the subject do some looking round and THEN ask questions there is a TON of information on here well I wish you luck on your modding --steven

That's not exactly true. . . in any respect. Modern V8's (built since 1987, 20 years ago) have been fuel injected and in 96 the entire Auto Industry went to OBDII which requires the same diagnostic setup. My V8 requires just as much "stuff" be in place as much, if not more so than the Elantra. You just need to know what you're doing.

As for the 4-cyl's competeing against the V8's. . . my 5500 lb truck will run away from my Elantra. It's not been touched (with the sole exception of a CAI AFTER I got whooped by the wife.) and has an easy 30hp/40ft-lb to be tapped without touching the internals.

Okay so I have a base model 2006 Elantra and have been looking for a cold air intake, but have had no luck. Does anybody know where I can find a good CAT? I saw one at EvoFusionUSA, but am not sure if it's worth buying and wanted to ask before hand. What about a short ram intake, what kind of hp will I gain, or what affect will it have? Is it world buying?

Thanks

Yeah seems like we got a little off topic. If you notice there is a sticky thread at the begining of the N/A forum , Accord intakes, that should give you all the info you need on pieces and fitment, and where to buy the whole thing or just parts. SRA works great for me, nice sound, slight hp-throttle responce gains, and it only cost $15, any way you cut it don't spend more than $50 for a CAI. If you do your wasting money. EBAY!
