Does anyone know what type of battery to use in the factory remote transmitter for the alarm/lock/unlock, for a 2001 Hyundai Elantra GT? I imagine install is pretty easy...any tips?

Thanks

If you mean the keyfob, im going to bet anything its a button cell, and CR2032 from RadioShack. Should only be around $5, and to get to it you just pry it open.

I AM NOT 100% though! Since mine is still working fine, but this is what i'd guess.

I just pryed mine open to check for ya. It's a Sony-brand (doesn't matter) CR2032. To open it, just stick a small screwdriver in the little slot near the bottom of the fob (by where the leather strap attaches to the fob) and pry. Once open, pop out the batter, pop in the new one, mission complete. I need to get a battery too. Mine is sucking for range.

Just a little tip to increase the range of your key fob ... and this is weird but it works.

Touch the key fob to the underside of your chin like you're pointing it toward your brain and hit the button ... it will increase your range by a couple hundred feet if your battery is good and still a lot if the battery is weak. This also works if there is outside interference and your remote is not operating properly.

Give it a try.

I'd like to hear from a Physicist or Electrical Engineer as to how this could work. sounds a lot like that myth that you could unlock a car over a cell phone.

I've dropped mine a few too many times and now its stays open just slightly enough to where I have to squeeze the fob together to get it to work. I just bought a new one online and am searching on how to program it. I'm pretty sure someone made a post on it.

if you really wanna increase you distance.. You can send a signal through your cell phone.. it may take a while but it works... Give that a try... Have someone call you w/ your remote and put your phone up to your door and have them push the unlock button..
