Someone tell me if this sounds normal (1.5Mb, <2 minutes)
http://www.wam.umd.edu/~cobas/Car/Engine.wmv

I'm worried there's a lot of sort of mechanical chatter from the engine and a slow (~3Hz), oscillating groaning/grinding from the clutch (or tranny) when it's engaged. It's hard to hear over the engine so I keep pushing the clutch in and out to show the difference. When I push the clutch in, the noise quickly slows down and stops in about 2 seconds. Also, is that the fuel pump making that noise before I crank the engine?

I don't know what is that sound at the start but it's not the pump as it's in the gas tank ...

For the clutch sound I don't know what could cause that except for a dead bearing ...

Might be the same problem he had. If it was the TOB it would do it when the clutch was down. Since its getting quiet when the pedal is down, bad bearing in the trans.

Yeah, actually it's not the clutch that matters, it's the input shaft/clutch spinning because if I coast in gear with the clutch pedal down, the noise continues. It stops if I take it out of gear.

car-parts.com is your friend at this point. A buddy of mine got a low mileage trans for 250.

I'd rather it be the transmission actually because that's under warranty. The clutch, even though it's only a year old and installed at the dealer, probably isn't warrantied anymore.

dealer covers (atleast most of them) 12 months/ 12,000 miles
