View Full Version : 10k woohoo + alighment issues
first off, this is my first new car, so i duno what all i need to check for..
is there anything i should have checked at 10k?
also should i be worried at my last alignment they told me my settings were .1 over the "standard" for my elantra. they said normally when your over the recommended for the car you should have it looked at, but since im just slightly over it isnt an issue yet, but if i go further over it will be. i dont remember the numbers, but i think they said something about .40 being normal and im at .41 or maybe it was 140 and 141.. i cant remember.. something like that. (sorry for my ignorance, no idea about that kinda stuff)
any responses will be appreciated. Tx

Just remember that an alignment is considered an adjustment and is covered under your 12 month 12,000 mile warranty
my hyundai dealer specifically told me at purchase that alignment is not covered for me. However they said that many other dealers run *specials* where you get free alignment from 6-mos up to 3yrs depending. but that they specifically did not offer such deal.
thanks though
also anyone on the adjustment issue? sorry its so vaguely described

Take some time out and read your owner's manual. It will enlighten you on many areas in regard to the operation and care of your vehicle.
i scanned online docs and mans maybe i just missed it but i cant find the min-max of the adjustmants. i read all about toe in/out camber and all that fun stuff.. and from readin i think the mechanic told me it was a camber that was farther then standard adjustment. but i cant find where to read about the min-max for adjustmants.. i guess if no one can help me here ill just call the dealer. my car is still fairly new so they like to talk to me thinkin im going to go there for work lol
Strait from the Dealer service center: (which btw a friend of a friend was my salesman so i "apparently" wouldnt get lied to or F'ed over, but we all know how that goes :P)
The elantra model has no camber issues, alignment specialists and mechanics will warn you if you reach a certain area of alignment, however the Elantra models can be taken all the way to either end and will not cause any problems or long term damage. You only need service if you reach the end of the adjustment scale and cannot go further.
So if what the dealer service guy said is correct then i got nothing to worry about :D
-just posting it up to share-

the warranty from HMA covers alignments for 12 months and 12,000 miles as long as there is no impact damage I have done this many times under the factory warranty
well then my dealership is strait up lying about that level of coverage. Is there a link that lists out everything that is covered by that warranty?

The dealership will tell you ANYTHING to save a buck. It's your responsibility to educate yourself and go in there with some ammunition to get things done!

nope, the dealer will need to duplicate any problem you say you have before a repair. so unless there is really something broken or wornout you are out of luck.
damn you hyundai for making the car good enough to actually not need that stuff inside of 12k miles! lol - cause other then the alignment which i already blew i dont really need jack.. ill prolly do the brakes soon enough, but not within the 12k :P
thanks for the info and links yall -major help
