Can I put a Double Din in a 04 Elantra??

I have a 2004 Elantra GLS and I was looking around at in-dash DVD players but every unit is a double din. I have an alpine deck in my car, and I measured the spot underneath that and it's almost 3/4 of a full din. I can't find anything to make my car a double din, I tried ebay and searching on google but nothing comes up. Has anyone fixed this problem, or made a mod?

i believe there are people on here that have done a double din in both teh xd2 and the xd...same amount of room...the dash area did not really change...

if you search the forum you can find pics of touchscreens that are double din that fit really well. i couldnt actualy find any pics of a true double din receiver, but i realy dont see why it wouldnt fit. if there was any modding involved it would be minor, at least i would assume so

It fits. There is a bracket behind the little bin and just below the single DIN head unit that needs to be removed, and the screws are tight as he11. I suggest using a cross-head screwdriver bit with a socket wrench (the screws are sideways and you can't get good screwdriver access). Other than that, pretty straightforward.

I do have a double din head unit in my xd an all you have to do is taking off the metal bracket under the radio (4 little screws, but a little hard to reach) and the plastic pocket.
It fits so well.... :bowdown:

Since some people with XD used XD2 plastic trim (to be able to replace the plastic pocketby a better looking closed one), i believe the two of them are similar.
So i would bet it will fit a XD2.

i think the in screen slide out ones are better.. coz when you are at the shops buying the groceries.. you can have the screen in the dash and out of prying eyes way....

search my s/n and you will see a double din install. in-dash deck and an in-dash flip out dvd player/screen.

^ i found yours when searchin, but i dint post it here just casue it was 2 units and not a single double din, i figured mounting may be different (was unsure) ;)

2 single din units = 1 double din unit. :)

for the most part anyway.
