I was talking to Reece about this a while ago, I knew Scion would be using the xD name. Funny. It actually looks good I think, better than both the xA and xB.

Looks like Toyoduh is getting their money's worth out of that old Echo/Tercel platform. Have they been taking lessons from Ford?

I'm guessing it will still be an underpowered buzz box.

Wow. Look at those sexy wheelcovers
I still hate Scion. This sucks less than the xB, but still sucks.

It wouldn't be so bad to me if it wasn't the same car underneath as the mid-90's tercel. That's like ford reskinning the Focus. . .10 years from now. It wasn't good then, it's not gotten any better! Add in "Beat with an Ugly stick" styling and what do you get? The Scion xD.

I like the front end of the xD but hate any car that has that 5 door wagon configuration. Looks a lot like a 5 door Yaris, really.
The second generation xB has grown by a foot and they are dropping a 158 horse 2.4 ... that's nice because before it was just an underpowered shoebox. Still won't buy one though.
i hate it.. and i hate the xa/xb i think they are all crap... the tc however.. if it wasnt the elantra, it was the tc hehe.. but the elantra was more practical for me and had lower insurance, and im happy :D

One question that just occurred to me is ... are the gauges still in the middle of the dash? I HATE that.
EDIT - I just checked out the Scion website. The xD will have a conventional dash/gauge configuration, the xB will continue with the gauges topping the center stack.

^^The xD will have a 158 horse 2.4 liter so I bet you'd really have to pedal your butt off to keep up!

can i get 10$ if i put the xD badge on my integra :D?

Not sure where you pulled that info. . . it's not what THIS (http://www.thecarconnection.com/Vehicle_Reviews/Sedans_Coupes_and_Hatchbacks/2008_Scion_xD_Preview.S180.A11878.html) says.
Type: 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder, DOHC 16-valve EFI with VVT-i
Bore and Stroke: 3.17 x 3.48 inches
Displacement: 1798 cc
Compression Ratio: 10.0:1
Horsepower: 128 hp @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 125 lb.-ft. @ 4400 rpm

Bob's info sounds much more Scionesque than the other engine option.

haha the 1.5L vvt ....some massive hp to move those shoe like shaped cars.
I heard the 1.5 is going in the xD, and that 2.4, from what I read, is supposedly going in the new xB.

My mistake ... typo ... I meant the xB will have 158 horsepower.
The information I got was from The Inside Line and reads as follows ...
For 2008, the xB has also grown in almost every dimension. It's now 3 inches wider and 12 inches longer, and the wheelbase has lengthened by 4 inches. More important, the xB now has a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine — an engine it shares with the current Scion tC. In the xB, this engine is good for 158 horsepower, a 55-hp bump.
For power, the Scion xD gets the Toyota Corolla's 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder, good for 128 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque. Both a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic transmission will be available to send it all to the front wheels.

Wow. Awesome use of 5-year old, c. 2003, technology in the 2008 model. Was Toyota bought out by Ford?

Seems like they are making them bigger and more powerful which should equal more money. Half the point of the Scion brand was too make cheaper vehicles than Toyota already had, hmm.

I was under the impression that the Scion brand was simply to appeal to the "younger" crowd with more content for the dollar. Funny thing is, it's mostly 40 year old misers who buy them.

LOL, I love how someone saving for their future is still seen as a miser, I own a 14 year old car (STILL waiting on engine work) because the money that would go towards payments on a new car are financing my future not a car that loses a large chunk of its value as soon as I sign the papers and drive it off the lot.
Miser? Smart, we'll see who's eating kd (no offense to those who thrive on kd) and who's having steak and comfort, don't miss out on everything because you're waiting for the future cuz we just don't know. But certainly don't blow all the hard-earned money your making just cuz its there.

i still dont see the big deal about the Tc...its a freaking pig! its like 3100 lbs with a 2.4 yeah the numbers say like 7.6 or something 0-60...but even with the supercharger from trd...they dont make any power...i think SCC was making 200 with the supercharger...and thats with like 5g's dumped into it...sorry but its not worth it...
