ok so i have the trouble code p0038 coming on in my 05 and it says that P0038 Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 2, bank 1, heater control – circuit high Wiring short to positive, HO2S, ECM so with this code i am guessing that the second o2 sensor has a short somewhere in it, so to fix this i guess that i need to chase wires and see which is broken or exposed in order to fix it.....any suggestions or someone who had this problem and fixed it would be greatly appreciated

i'd say just crawl under there and look around. see if anything is out of the ordinary.

You may have to replace the second o2 sensor if you dont find any wires damaged.

It is probably shorted internally. I would take it to the dealer and let them fix it. You should still be under warranty right?

umm it would be a pain to take it to the dealer, technically it still has the warranty but i put in an air/fuel ratio gauge, a 4-2-1 header, relocated the second O2 sensor and i have zex, and the fact that its 300 miles to the closest dealer makes it a wee bit harder to take it to the dealer

How is it 300mi? There is a dealer in Ashland, medford, Eugene, Portland, and probably some inbetween that I don't know of. Where are you located? And even with the mods they should do it because it is an emmissions piece.

no they probably wouldn't...since it's not the stock exhaust and they could say the zex broke it....I am almost sure they wouldn't even touch it.

well all this happened while i was visiting a buddy in eastern oregon, when i get back into klamath falls i might run over to ashland or medford to have them lock at it, but if i do i will return my car back to stock, which will be a pain but less of a hassle than figuring it out myself

Did you try to reset the ECU? I did this last time the o2 threw a code and it never came back on. I had the dealership check it just in case and they said everything was fine.

i have tried that, and a code scanner, and i chased all the wires so i am guessing that it is the sensor but like i said i will take it to the dealer when i get back to my house in k falls

i got the sensor for around 60, and what i had to do since i relocated the sensor is take out my cat unplug and unscrew the sensor, it takes a 22mm if i remember right it might be a 24mm tho, it took me maybe a total of 20-25 min mainly because i had to jack the car up.....umm on a car with a stock exhaust the second sensor will be located in the mid pipe and again you have to unplug and unscrew it, you might have to take out the mid pipe by unbolting it from the exhaust manifold/1st cat, and after the second cat....hopes this help...o i ordered my sensor from autopartswarehouse.com
