well the term 'new' is of course figuratively speaking.. esp when i tell you the age of the car...

its a 1984 Ford FD LTD
i know this might not mean much to users outside of australia, but its still a beautiful car!
i have ALWAYS wanted one of these cars - ever since i got my first taste of luxury motoring in my first car, a 1983 Ford ZK Fairlane.

hopefully the above linkie workies, if not, let me know il update it.

but yeah, got it for a bargain price of AU $650!
the woman i brought it off, originally wanted 1400.. but it was in a state that it didnt want to run and i spent 20bucks on it to get it started - needed a new rotor cap in the dizzy - the old one way all deteriorated and the like.

all numbers match for this baby too, it has a fair few cars on the clock.. but the car is 23 years old... so maybe 305,000kilometers isnt that many now is it?
full electrics, seats, windows, mirrors, even the areial - did i mention factory electric sunroof - that still works perfectly. which is good that works.. coz getting parts for the early girl ford sunroofs is a rare as rockinghorse ****!

il still be keeping the 2006 Elantra of course, but fundage will be diverted away from that, to the LTD, to get that running and registered again.

im planning on doing a 'faithful' restoration on her - she deserves it thats for sure.

im so happy to FINALLY have one of these LTDs - only 3458 in the FD model where made... and the law of wrecks and whatever else suggests that around 2000 will be left in this model - becoming rare, so becoming valuable :D

I dunno if I`d call a Murgon Mission mobile XF falcon with a big boot a ` cool car` .. When I saw LTD I was hoping it was gunna be the big head light small head light one. Valuable? tough call..

Edit: Okay, thats harsh.. But I did own a couple XF`s back in the day, at one time where I worked at the time, there was a bout a dozen of them, XD-F and fairlanes and LTD.

If it`s what you wanted, enjoy.

the LTD's you are thinking about, are quite rare these days - if they been restored, then the owners prolly have them sitting in thier garage to keep from getting dirrty by driving them... cars are ment for driving - thats my opinion.
EDIT: the LTD's that you might be thinking of, are the P74 and P76, with the circular headlights and the 'rolls-royce (sp?) grill'
them things used to motor... tho i spose a 5.8L 351Cleavo matched to the FMX or C4/6/11 gearbox would do that for a car.. esp considering they weighed in at somewhere around 2tons of metal...

the fairlane and ltd varients of the falcon, where of the longer wheelbase... not like the stunt that holden pulled back 68/69 poss 1970 holden brougham - with just a longer boot to try and fool people...
which of course did not work (ha ha on Holden :P)
the fairlane / ltd's are built on the stationwagon wheelbase - with extra space & luxury inside the car.. as well as being a bigger car. at least ford got the idea right as opposed to Holden... hehe.
(while of course holden did still have this statesmans and caprices at the time.. )

The rolls royce front.. I near bought a ` silver monarch` one, had everything, big 12 slotters.

I just get cold shivers thinking about that grass killing cross flow, leaking oil out ever orifice, okay strong engine but a biatch to work on, the replace a door handle every 6 weeks, the broken throttle cables ( I fixed mine with a piece of garden hose threaded over the top to stop the heat from the exhaust cooking the outer cable. How on earth ford kept making the same mistakes over and over through out the XD E F range is beyond me. Funny though, if you see a nice one still going, 9 out of 10 it`s an XD.

As i mentioned I owned a couple as did many mates back in the day. best part was they were a very fast moving item for the bad boys in town so one merely had to go out the back of the mines to find `bush tucker ` parts.

I don`t miss mine for a second, but if you like them and enjoy the car, don`t let me spoil you fun ;)
