maybe it's me...but I'm bored already. The GUY that is working for all these car companies must be in high demand for his artistic style. He must be making a fortune.

It kinda makes me appreciate my out dated xd interior a lot more than I did.

Here is one that's a little different. The 2008 Chevrolet Malibu interior. I think it looks hot in comparison to the others....

Love my Sonata but I think the interior is the weakest link. The styling is pretty bland. Dash kind of reminds me of a Mercury Grand Marquis & the interior fabric (cloth) seems to have come from a bath robe. Still love the car though!

its just fashion really...
atm.. car companies think we all want clean clutterfree/lotsa buttons..

there will come a time when they go back to more interesting interiors im sure

(IMO - the bmw interior shots where best above :D)

This is true, they all look very similar.
But like cornbread said, it's the style of the times.
However, there are quite a few cars with something different to offer, please forgive the mirror images:

Toyota Yaris.

Citroen C2 (I really like this one)

But yeah if you're looking for a really unique interior, prepare to spend big $$$

Every year car manufacturers put their concept cars on the floor to gauge public reaction, especially in the interior wars, but I agree with you that nothing much has changed over the last few years. My favourite from last year was the Accent SR concept. That interior was smoking!

Also, in your pics you can see how the Honda civic is quite different from the rest.

Gotta make what sells. People like symetry these days.

as long as they don't assume that every car should look like this. I'm just worried about the shear volume that already do.

Thats Why I loved the RD. Not to many cars were drivers side oriented at the time. My 92 eclipse was as well.

Anyone ever notice how the cab (interior, i had never looked inside) of the xd resemble a saab as well. It's like they took the dash right out of one. I got to park my gt next to one the other day, and I cant believe saab isn't sueing for infringement.

and take note on the two top pics, the acuras.
Itought they were the same car. But it is most definately the tsx and the TL. could they change it a LITTLE bit at least. I understand making the extriors of a companies cars similar, but the same damn dash too...come on!

While at the Chicago auto show Monday, my friends and I were commenting on how all the interiors of every car started to blur together. So, I agree with you.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the "lets integrate everything into the dash up high so it all looks like your grandmother's crown vic." It alsways leaves this huge gap at the bottom of the dash/console that just looks horrible.

Oh, BTW I too have noticed the striking Saab resemblence.

Here's another interior that's pretty decent/unique. Its the current Volvo S40.

yeah, when I was scanning for pics on the web of all these, i saw that one. I still think it's close to those others, but not as offensive.

That "slim" line dash Volvo has is nice, but I'm also disappointed with how car dashes have gone away from driver orientation. The XD series is/was a rare breed.

I like most of them. I guess I like the symetric look.

I've been in a lot of those cars (at the auto shows) and I've found that the placement of the controls is pretty good in most cases.

As for them being high up on the dash, it makes more sense to me. You have to look away from the road less (if you need to look away at all).

Yea, I have noticed this trend as well. I hate flat dashboards that are built so they can move the steering wheel to the other side and not have to change much.

My favorite interior is the simplicty and driver oriented e30 BMW 3-series

Everything angled towards the driver, seats that wrap around you, simple gauge cluster. Perfection.

This has been talked about before somewhere on here, but yeah, it seems that a lot of auto makers aren't being too original. I like the designs but something different would be nice too.

i liked my oldsmobile achieva dash
everything was angled toward me

you cant really tell in the pic, but it felt more like a cockpit than just a car interior

i also like the xd interior because it is similarly shaped, but doesnt quite have the angle towards the driver like the e30 or my achieva did

car designs in general are getting lame. no one has any creativity anymore. the new Subies and Evos look like *** (personal opinion) and this whole thing about dodge and ford "repopping" those retro styles is horse ****. in my whole hearted opinion, you cant re make and american legend (camaro, mustang, challenger) in this day and age because it should be exactly what it was; pure, V-8 power. none of this computerized fuel economic dillywackin bullcrap.

not to mention the visual slaughter nissan threw all over the Skyline- sorry, the 'GT-R'.
