This car has been the "third car" in the family since my wife got her Taurus 4 years ago. One son learned to drive on it, crashing it twice. Now it's my younger son's turn (to learn, NOT to crash!) During that time, I've kept it running, but haven't worried about appearance all that much. I waxed her for the first time in.... probably 4 or 5 years. Here is how she looks now (try to ignore the battle damage on the front right corner):

Note the jealous look on my Elantra; it's used to getting all the attention!

Next task is that I need to clean up the engine bay a little:

Even with only a puny 88 hp, the car only gets about 22-25.

The plates? Photoshop. I don't like putting my plates online. If you look at the pic with the Elantra in the background, it also has ZZZ*ZZZ. ;)

If there's anything left after my son is done learning how to drive, I think I'm going to autocross it. :diablo:

Nice photochop skills then, especially because you did it at a bunch of different angles.

88HP? Damn. I'm glad I wasn't driving in the 90's.

That's my mom's car, except hers is white. I drove that around for over six years before getting the Elantra. 88hp is right; but I remember getting over 30mpg highway on ours. It still runs at 120k miles.

Paranoid much?

On any rate, that's an impressive chop, they look real.

There is a Z in the plate number; I just copy and pasted it to all the positions. No big deal.

The Escort used to get better mileage. Maybe wtih new plugs and wires and a new fuel pump it would do better.

Shoot. . . 88hp in that little thing! My ol' Tempo from 84 had a whole 82hp and it was a bigger car! Wow how times have changed.

"Tempo"... The word makes me cringe. I had an '87. Very modern, airbag and everything. It eventually caught on fire and died. Motor mounts broke, which caused the exhaust to come apart and ignite the years of oil spew. Fun times.

My '89 escort hatch was a beast. I delivered pizzas in it. Hit a tree with it once, tore the remainder of the bumber off, reset the fuel shut-off in the rear, and pizza was still hot when delivered. The body eventually rusted off the drivetrain.

EDIT: BTW, pretty escort.

Ha! Thats exactly what I was thinking when I saw it. That would be cool as crap.
