my wife says she doesn't really want me to turbo my car and kinda wants me to get rid of it.
so my three options are:
1. turbo the tib
2. go n/a instead, ex. p/p head etc.
3. get rid of the tib and get my buddy's turbo civic. he's been bugging my for the last 3 months about buying it. he said, this is straight from his mouth, "Sell your car and buy mine cause i don't think anyone else will take good care of it like you." car has a 70 trim turbo on a JDM 1.6 sohc vtec, runs high 12's to 13's.
^ wife approves of this

I never thought I'd say this, but just get the civic. You know its history, and you obviously crave the power. So, why create more headaches than you have to? :)

It'd be a lot less work, hassle, risk.... how long has the Civic been boosted?

^ it's a fast car and it's only on stock internals tuned. it's a 95 coupe with 70k original miles on it with the original motor being rebuilt for boost. he's selling it to me cheap if i buy it.

Get the Civic. I love Hyundai's but I have been into Honda's much longer. I know more about Hondas than any car on the road so im a little partial. More than likely the Civic is already faster than you will ever realistically make your Elantra. Im deeply considering getting a project Honda and using the Elantra as a daily driver when the money is right and the wife approves of this. Man did I marry a good woman.
not what i expected from a hyundai forum thread... how bout option D, sell the tib, get a 05-06 XD2 and do the whole change from header to exaust and then turbo it.. bam :D

so you want him to buy a brand new car and turbo it? but you're joking, so I guess its okay =P
definetely scratch 2 off of the list, I think you'll burn alot of time/money and be dissapointed.
the civic might be a good deal (depending on price). hopefully you'd save alot of money and time by having someone else do all of the work.
but you might end up inheriting someone else's headache. if his setup is all cleanly done, and he has a hondata or some suitable chipped ecu, then you're probably alright.
because you're not going to know exactly how the car has been set up, and if something goes wrong, you could blow alot of money at "tuner" shops trying to fix it.
turboing the tib, however, as long as it wont hurt you to have alot of down-time, might be alot of "fun" for you.
well ya know.. this is ELANTRAXD.COM right? hehe
ok honest answer, i duno that tib is pretty old in car years now.. i might hold onto it and make it a project car and just get a replacement. something more practical.. but NOT a civic :D

the sad part is. i've never owned a honda and i know more about it then a lot of my friends, like mini-me's,, frankinsteins, suspension, motor swaps, etc.

Yeah me too. I have wanted one since before I got my license over six years ago and still don't have one but i've managed to own two slow Hyundai's that has never really made me happy.

Whatever makes the wife happy will, in the end, make you happiest (or the least miserable anyway).

IMO, if you aren't sure which way to go when it comes to spending money, don't go anywhere. Save it until you do know and then have a ball.
