View Full Version : Injector Sizing

I was looking to buy some Sonata Injectors for my turbo project. But KewlKat said they'd be to small. I used the calculators at Stealth 316 (http://www.stealth316.com/2-air-fuel-flow.htm) , a site for 3000GT and Stealth Owners. Anyway, they have some nice Javascript calculators and the 292cc Sonata injectors seemed to be sized right ... now I don't know.
So how about some help ... what injectors work on the Beta II? And I'd rather use stock Kia/Hyundai parts if I can find them.
Some info on my project:
2006 Beta II w/5speed
Looking to make close to 200whp. No big if I don't.
2.5" full exhaust w/3"down pipe,
Stock compression,
TD04-13G using 8psi,
FMIC,
Recirculating BOV,
OBX tubular manifold(rewelded),
Haven't decided on an engine management system yet.
Thanks for the help ...

stick with a 2.5" DP...no need for 3" for 200hp. if you want to do plug and play, the 290s should be fine to get you near 200...if you want to do a little wiring/tinkering, you can get some 340cc injectors from i believe accel...may need a fuel rail spacer for them to fit

Is there anything from Hyundai that will fit?
These are standard, low impedance Bosch injectors right? So anything with in reason should fit, right?

nooooo...unless hyundai changed something between the XD/XD2s (which i dont think they did), you need HIGH impedance injectors. i think you should get somewhere between 12-16 ohms if you test on a volt meter

from personal experence the 290's will be perfect for your application.

i had to change from my 290 sonata inj cause at about 10 psi i was maxing them out but you should be able to get a little more out of them if you get a return system done if you need them i still have them

im just stating that i think the 290cc would be tooooooo close to maxing out and depending on the size of the turbo they could be less than what you need.

yeah 290cc will hold 8-10 psi np...u dont even need to tune it really...my reflashed ecu controls it very well until i get money $$ to tune and up boost

I'm lost ... when I did my calculations I was using Wheel Horsepower and 5 injectors (Alpine was in my mind). When I redid the calculation with 4 injectors and flywheel horse power it comes out to around 420cc injectors.
 Time to step back and rethink this out ...

calculators are great, but advice is better. Take the personal accounts from the people that have used this setup on the forum. Even with returnless, you will be fine at 7-8PSI with return, you could prob squeez 10 PSI out of them.
