Well, we now have vBulletin 3.6.4 installed and running.
For now there are a lot things that aren't working but I'll do my best to take care of things slowly but surely.
Now, I don't know if this is going to solve the problem that we had on Friday and earlier today but maybe it will help. I had Rdizziedog help out with another problem with database optimization and hopefully that will solve the problems.
We'll see.

The reason you guys are missing PM's and posts is because James had to restore the site with a backup from a little while ago. The site has been upgraded to v3.6.4 and all of the tables in the database have been optimized. You shouldn't experience any slow loads or timeouts anymore, but if you do, let James know and we'll try to figure out why.
He is aware that there are some issues with the board for now, mainly:
Spacing inside threads is messed up
User drop-down menus aren't working
Avatars aren't working
Arcade, Flashchat, Archive, and a few other links aren't working
As far as I know those are the main things that are messed up. If you could kindly report any other bugs that you guys find it would help a lot.

I'll ask James if he has a backup from before he restored and see what I can do.

Sorry Derek, there is no way we can get any of the lost posts back. Basically we lost Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and we saved part of Saturday but lost most of today.
Like Ryan said, report anything else strange that you notice.
vB 3.6 has a lot of different/new features that I'm sure we'll stumble across as well.
EDIT - Actually, I think we lost Wednesday-Now. Sucks.

meh, it happens James. Like you've said before, with such little downtime on this site and things going so well for so long now, we can accept a little something like that happening...it's not like the end of the world or anything.

For some reason I felt that I should fix the Chat first... so there you have it, it's fixed.
Let me know if anyone has any problems.

Well everyone it seems as if the problem crept up on us again at around 1AM today. I was monitoring the site all night long and the first time I noticed it wouldn't load again was around 1AM, so once James got off work we set off on a journey to see if we could figure out what was wrong with it again.
After killing off some processes, doing some system reboots, and examining some other stuff, we updated PHP to the newer version and it has seemed to solve the problems for now (again)...
Not sure if this is going to fix it for sure (just as we weren't sure if the things we did before would fix it permenantly) but I have a good feeling about this time.
Once again we will be working on getting all of the site's stuff (avatars, forum spacing, etc) fixed ASAP.
Sorry again about the downtime.

Thanks again Ryan for the help. Smart 18 year olds = fixing the internet one site at a time. Let's hope we don't have the same problem over the next 12-18 hours. I'm glad we could fix it without going to a backup again, especially since we'd probably have to update the vB software again.
The Garage is down and will be down for a while. I have commitments tomorrow night, Wednesday, and probably Friday night too, so I won't have any time to work on fixing things until the weekend probably. Let's hope it's around for that long, ha.
Stupid computers.
You got that right.

You'll notice the thread spacing is correct now along with the "Multi-quote" buttons in each post.
I'll work on more this weekend.

i cant see the infraction :(
and for some reason when i click on a member name it doesnt do anything (that popup menu)
hyunelan2
02-27-2007, 02:11 PM
I didn't issue the infraction, I found that you have to go through a couple button pushes to do it. On another forum I'm on, as soon as you click the infraction button once, it's issued - hence why I didn't want to click it.
Yeah, clicking on member names isn't working for me either.

Mike, the infractions thing is for moderators only. We'll figure out if we want to use it or not later.
As for the dropdown menus, yeah, that's strange. I'll work on it.
SuperGLS
02-27-2007, 06:25 PM
EDIT - No drop down menus are working (search, quicklinks, etc).
EDIT 2 - Looking further into it, it seems that threads that have been started from yesterday (after the site back online) or today the menus work fine (both the search this thread/rate this thread/member name ones), but anything from before last night it doesn't work. And because the forums were created before then, the menus for Search this forum don't work either.
Strange.

That wasn't working before the problems. Working on it.
The Chat is working forreals now. Enjoy.
Whats?
Yes ok. The no doubleposting hack is back on line. It just works a little differently. The page has to be reloaded for you to see it happen.

Today I've added a "Who's Chatting" and "Most Popular" info boxes at the bottom of the Forum Home Page. Nothing too extravagent but they are nice additions.
Also, I noticed that the EXD box shows the number of Active users, which as we all know is a small percentage of the total number of users. I don't know how that is determined though.

Yeah, I've been working on that today as well. For vB 3.5+ it's now iTrader. It's up and running now. I still need to make some template edits so that there is a "Leave Feedback for this member" link in a members Profile. Will get to that shortly.

I have a lot of feedback to leave...;) So hurry up;)
SuperGLS
03-04-2007, 10:11 PM
Ha.
Well, I now have the rating score underneath the membername in each post like before. So you can always find a thread where the person posted and access it that way.
The Profile idea isn't needed now since most people get to your profile by clicking on your member name in a post. However, I will be adding a link to under the member name in the Members List section as well.

I've added a Auto Picture Resize hack.
Anything over 800x600 will be resized to 800x600. This should help any scrolling issues that we have when people post pics that are 2340x1890 (exaggeration) and crap.
If you have any pictures that you need to keep the resolution then simply post them as links.

So with the whole "automerged double-post" thing in effect is it possible ti bumo threads anymore? I ask because of the F/S threads :D
Thanks

03-05-2007, 10:20 PM
The Double Post thing works similar to before. After a certain about of time they won't be "automerged."
The Garage is now back up and running. It does look kind of ugly though. I'll see if I can't fix that shortly.
