saw that pic on snopes or somewhere, apparently its real but that pic is a timelapse, so it only makes those lightning spikes one or so at a time. still DAMN cool!

Yep, it's the Getz, it was done in Queensland, and if you're interesting in science I recommend spending some time @ the site of the guy who made it. It makes for some good technical reading.

That is my photo. It is a 30 second exposure and the Tesla coil is running about 2-3kW. My son was apprehensive but safe.

Here is a view during setup.

Lots of other (better) pics on the site. This and my other pics have been on Digg, Hackaday and Fark etc and I have had about 50k hits in 3 weeks.
