Okay, The motor was recieved and transported to my cousins house (Thanks Derek :D ) to have the head rebuilt and all. Upon further inspection he believes I have recieved an 03 motor instead.
Here is a link to the auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320084909587&rd=1,1
I am aware in the first line of the motor description it lists 03. However below that line they list 04-06 and I have e-mailed them with my VIN and they assured me it was the right one.
My dilema is this, if I want them to accept the return I have to pay for freight shipping back to them ($221) so I would be out $441 in shipping alone and have no motor anyway.
I was thinking of seeing if they would take this motor back, let me buy the kia spectra motor they have (I would offer to pay the balance) and ship this motor back to them and have them pay for shipping the kia motor to me. I havent contacted them yet, until I hear back from Josh (or what you guys tell me).
My thought on this is to use the 03 motor and buy an 03 ecm as well. My question is, how many sensors would I not be using besides the MAF? Would the 03 ecm even hook up properly?
Any suggestions? Thanks guys

You'd have to check wiring diagrams. I'm not sure If it will just "hook up"
But you would need an intake manifold with a MAP (which I have laying around, including throttle body, all sensors on it yadayada), you'd need a narrowband primary o2 sensor, and maybe a couple other things? It would be an expensive swap.
BUT!!
You can get a CVVT head and bolt it on.
Isnt there someone in the marketplace selling a CVVT head w/ cams and everything?

what you received isn't what you purchased... they should cover all shipping... I'd consider fighting for it...

if i recall correctly: the 03 head was cvvt but the CVVT wasn't active. what i would consider doing is swapping over the CVVT solenoid off ur current head and swapping ur maf intake manifold over and that SHOULD work.
That wont work Jim.You would have to drill the head for that solenoid to go in.The cvvt mech would fit in that head though.

hmmm... how big is the solenoid? i take it it'd be alot of hassle to get it in. haven't looked at a CVVT in awhile. what about just keeping it off? the motor would still run, just probably be alot slower lol

yeah, I'll message them and see what they have to say. I'm just waiting for the call back to confirm that I have indeed recieved the wrong motor.
I know its not cost effective but converting to map would be better for F/I.Don't Kdmguy sell a Ecm for map conversions?

I would convert to map, that's what I was going to do. i don't know about your cash flow, but if you have the means, I would do it. The uni-chip works better with map apps. anyways.

since it wasn't what u ordered, u can deny charges on your credit card and make the company eat the loss if they don't give u a full refund and pay all shipping charges.
u have proof that they sent u the wrong motor (via vin number) and your credit card company will back u up.

I would like to also, but I really don't want to be starting another project on top of the one I have now. I just want to get the motor swapped and boosted again.

I may look into that. I will be checking the head I had just swapped over to see if it's still in good shape, if so, then We will just rebuild that one and swap it over to the 03 block. And I will probably end up selling the non-cvvt head.
My whole thing about not sending the motor back is just the hassle of going through all those loops. And after all that I still wont have a motor. The prices for a cvvt motor are in the $500-600 range (without shipping). So I could either pay all that out or just adapt my head to this block and that'll be that. Worst case scenario, I would end up buying the head off of adeihl and use that one if my current one is done. But from talking to Jim and Derek they belive the head should dtill be re-useable since the car was only driven like 200 miles before the engine seized.
