Hey everyone, I am having some diff. with my 01 Elantra... It has the alpine intercooled turbo kit on it and the Unichip to controll A/F and so on... Anyways my problem is that I stuck a new motor in and also rebuild my turbo now when I am driving the car hard it drives great but when I go to cruise the car drives but slightly tapping the accel. the car starts to bog and you have to downshift and then the car starts to bog a lil then all of a sudden the power hits and off you go. Now all the intercooler piping is tight, new plugs, new wires, ect does anyone know what this might be?? Could I be running lean?

Sounds like you're not getting enough fuel when it bogs. With out knowing what the A/F is, have you thought about the ignition coils?

is it stumbling when you're trying to give it gas? could be as simple as a TPS

Yeah, are you throwing any CEL?

fuel filter too, check that

what kinds of problems could the fuel filter cause? i.e. CEL, running lean/rich, (the obvious not getting enough fuel lol) etc.

PS> no flaming, it's corona on the menu tonight (in carl voice from ATHF) :D

uh dont know about the CEL, dnt check those to often since I always am throwing them lol, no cat ect... but its like when you have the gas to the floor it hesitates (like2-3 sec) and then you can feel the car take off, and when your like in 5th just cruising if you want to go any faster you have to downshift or it starts bogging and bucking all over the place, like it wants to go but cant

check your codes then post them here. you might be throwing more than the cat code.

yeah man, I thought that same thing until I got a flashing CEL. I then bought and OBDII scanner and had a total of like 12-13 different codes :O

haha alright Ill check them sometime this week and post them, my car is at the shop getting a lil bit of work on it right now.

Still havent had the chance to check the CEL's but I talked to John at Alpine about maybe needing to have the unichip reflashed but he asked me if I ever had changed my fuel pump and I havent and I have around 115,000 miles on my car, so my friend gave me a brand new Walbro 255lph fuel pump, so do you'll think that may help, also I have to run a return line now dont I?

How much boost are you running? a 255lph fuel pump may be overkill and you may run too rich with that. a 190 is good though

I am running 8-9psi right now with 4 290cc injectors and then a 5th injector. Great I am just strapped for $$right now and he just gave me this brand new fuel pump lol, what if I undo the 5th injector do you think everything would work then, I just dont want to be running lean and blow my motor or do any damage.

thing with the walbro 255 is that it flows a ****load and since you dont have a return line the pressure will be too big in my opinion, a 190 lph would suffice.

Well I had planned on running a return line so iff I ran the return line would that make a diff?

You know what I may not even have the Uni-chip wired right, can anyone tell me which wires go were for an 01 elantra (beta 1)? I should prolly try that before putting a new fuel pump in lol.

Return line you could adjust the pressure via fpr

and you have a beta2

my01elantra

I though the beta 2 has the MAF sensor? I have MAP, I am confused now lol some people say I have a Beta 1 and some say 2. Awsome yeah I have all of the things to do the return line, 1 of my mech friends is going to run it for me this Sat. and well put a fpr on as well.

no. listen.

i have a MAP too.

beta1s ALL had MAF
beta2 non cvvt has MAP
beat2 cvvt has MAF

simple enough? :)

and obviously you need an fpr or else all your fuel would just dump back to your tank and you end up with like 12 psi of pressure haha

haha awsome, that explains alot... yeah I will pick one of those up before this weekend, know one has a DYI for this do they?

Well I will take lots and lots of pics and if all works I will do a DIY. My friend is mainly the one thats going to do this, he has ran a return line on one other car, hes a mechanic, and his family builds race cars lol so with him and a couple other people and lots of time I think we can get this done. Do you know of anyone currently running like this, if so I will PM them for some advice.
