I am in the process of slowly putting a system in my car...so far I have swaped out the stock speakers for Sony Xplods, and I have also had a Dual cd deck installed this past November.

I recently have purchased, from one of my good friends, a 10 inch Sony Xplod sub and a Kenwood Amp. What would I need to get to install these? She gave me them without any wiring.

I dont want to drain my battery (its still stock) my front speakers are 220 watts
and the rear speakers are 240 watts
the cd deck is 220 watts all at peak power.

The Amplifier:
60 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms 75 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms 150 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms stereo or bridged mono output 4-ohm stable in bridged mode

The Sub:
Peak Power 800 watts

Would I need a Capacitor? What gauge wire kit would i need?

I no nothing about car audio so any help would be great.

Well, you will def. need to get a sub wiring kit. I'm not sure what gauge wire though (there are a couple different sizes out there). If you can find them, it would also help if you gave the rms power for the speakers, deck, and sub.

like many of my posts this got a little screwy.. but read it anyway..

its all sony/dual stuff so its low rms

so heres what you need to do:
as for the dual hu and sony xplode speakers.. there fine as long as your happy, no need to do jack for them.

get your manual for your dual cd player and see if it has a SUB output on the back, if so buy a set of long rca wires and run them from that output to the trunk and into the amp. if not you will have to replace your dual deck for one with sub outputs or just use your rear speaker wire as high inputs for the amp (this is not ideal though and you will lose sound quality).

as for the sub n amp, with 150wats mono, youll need to get a 8g or better wireing kit, they sell them all over the web or even at local shops. make sure to get a complete kit with fuze holder fuzes etc. some of them even include the rcas you need for wiring from hu->amp, sonys 800 watt sub can probobly only handle a few hundred rms anyway, so 150 shouldnt be too far off the mark, the new sonys say 1300w and are 350rms, so if it sais 800 id expect 200-250, but im just estimating from sonys track record.. my friends s10 has 150 going to his infinity 10inch and it sounds fine, but of course infinity makes rather effecient subs. anyway i digress.. so for a first system at a low cost what you have should be fine. . and the sony xplod should be a standard 4ohm so connecting it to the amp should be a no brainer. also kenwoods should have labeled which plugs to use in bridge mode, if you cant figure it out its just the hot from one channel and the ground from the other, some amps it matters and others it doesnt, check the manual or look it up online if you cant figure it out..

any other questions just toss em here
