when you turboo your car how do you keep the vacuum brake booster?

don't hit the brakes while boosting?
you should be off the throttle when you're on the brakes anyway...

what he said.
dont worry about it. never had a problem myself.

There's a check valve in the brake booster so it'll build it up while off boost, but yeah if you were constantly boosting and braking at the same time, you could theoretically loose the vacuum assist on your brakes.

thanks for answers. been thinking about that for a long tinme.

comon guys he is asking about how the booster gets its vacuum to assist....

I didnt realise while boostin the engine does not produce vacuum......
I guess it makes sense really but never really worried about it...
How do factory turbocharged vehicles combat this issue

dude you dont boost CONSTANTLY
whens the last time you had the right foot accelerating and left foot on brake
as soon as you let go of the gas for 0.00000001 seconds it goes back to vacuum

Righty then......
Interesting......
Im going to do some more research on this.....

what you thought a turbo car constantly produces boost?
^^^^^That would be a dream lol
Boosting at idle ahhhhhhhh

not that much boost and you don't see it with a bypass valve.
i had my left foot on the brake and right on the gas today when messing with the work trucks :D

No not at all....
I thought with boost it pressurised your cylinders, not the plenums and **** where you get vacuum and stuff.... To be honest i basically never thought of it till now

Do you know how an engine works? You get vacuum because the pistons are sucking the air out of the intake manifold. You need two things to create vacuum; Movement and restriction. The movement comes from the pistons, the restriction comes from the throttle plate. When you start "boosting", it fills the intake manifold with positive pressure. This then forces air into the cylinders rather than letting them suck the air in.

If you are really that concerned about it, install a one-way check valve into the brake booster line.
problem solved.

^Every vacuum operated brake booster system already has one installed. Problem solved...

thus FORCED INDUCTION.... YAY!!!

I think this was a legitimate question from someone that doesn't fully understand whats going on inside of an engine. At least as far as air pressure under different situations. If we where all experts why even have this board at all?
As far as not hitting the gas and brake at the same time.. no one can heal-toe here? lol.
(^-being a smartass... I hope no one is heal-toeing running around town ha. If its a boosted car Id hope it would see a track at some point)

Thanks someone that agrees with me.....
I understand the engine and how it works as i said in a previous post but i never really thought about it. The only Boosted car i have owened was a series 3 RX7 with a 13B turbo.
But thanks for the replies I will think before i post on this board again and get abused for asking an honest question

Come on guys, the question wasn't bad.
Let's try to limit the sarcastic comments when someone is trying to learn something.
EXD is a friendly place, let's keep it that way.

Yeah I love doing it all the time, but still, I said "left foot on brake" ;) and you dont boost on heal toe (not much anyways)
and since the one way valve is there it "keeps" the vacuum for a little while
