air bag light on!

we have a 2001 Elantrya...the air bag light went on...it is in the dash,
below the spedometer...it won't go off...what gives?.....anyone have
the same problem?........how do I turn it off?......I don't have a dealer

Maybe an autozone or similar auto parts place can read if you have any cool codes getting thrown out.

Nah, they won't have a scanner for that.

Personally, I wouldn't let anyone other than the dealer touch that. The airbag module may have went bad. They put it under the armrest/cupholder console and a lot of people damage it by spilling drinks down there.
